Hi gang!

I am fairly new here, and have appreciated all the info so far. We are staying at POP October 24-30.

I have a couple of questions about the Photo Pass:

  • How much does it cost?
  • Do you pay ahead of time?
  • Do you own the rights to the photos? Like, if I wanted to use them on a Christmas Card through Snapfish would I be able to? I know they are really particular about copyright issues.
  • Do you think it is worth
it?

Thanks in advance for the info.

I think it's only worth it if you pre order the Photo pass CD. When ordering pictures separately, you pay something like $12 dollars a photo (give or take a dollar). The photo pass CD when pre-ordered is $99.95 and will contain ALL your photo pass photos and will include a copy right release. You can then print out the photos however you want.
Here is the link to the Pre-order site:
http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx

Upon purchase, Photo pass will send you several emails, one will have the purchase code on it. Be sure to save that in several places (in your email, in another computer file, print a copy out and post it on your bulletin board ect.)
Then once home from your trip, you enter all your photo pass cards onto the photo pass site, view, edit then order your pictures with the purchase code. Photo pass will ship you your CD (if you have more photos than will fit on one CD, they will send the appropriate amount at no extra cost).
Hope that info helps you out.

You got great info above from tjbaggott. The only thing I would add is that you should keep searching here and on other Disney-themed boards for a discount purchase code. I think the pre-order code expires after 60 days, so you might want to wait until just a week or two before your trip to place your pre-order. I'm too excited that close to the trip to wait, but you can place it up until the day before you arrive if you'd like.

In May we did the prepurchase at $99 minus a Disney Visa discount of 15%, so it was a great deal.

Fine Print on the PhotoPass Pre-Order e-mail:
"Satisfaction Guarantee/Return Policy: By taking advantage of Disney's PhotoCD Pre-Arrival Savings Offer, you are guaranteed to get a great value on one of our most popular memory keepsakes. This e-mail contains your promotion code. You will use this code to get all Disney's PhotoPass images in your account on an archive quality CD as well as a copyright release that allows you to reprint and use your images in the sizes and formats that you wish. You must purchase the pre-arrival offer before your vacation and then order your CD or CD + Book after your vacation. The promotion code cannot be combined with any other offers. Coupon codes do not include cost of shipping, sales tax (if applicable), or additional Photo Book pages. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the photos and decide that you no longer want to order your Disney's PhotoCD, just let us know and you will receive a full refund. To receive a refund, you must request it within 2 weeks after the completion of your Disney vacation and you must not use the special promotion code to order Disney's PhotoCD. If the promotion code has been used, a refund will not be granted."

Instructions:
"What To Do Next:

Step 1: Visit the Parks and look for our photographers who will be happy to make sure you get lots of Disney's PhotoPass photos taken. The first photographer you see will give you a Disney's PhotoPass card you can use for your entire stay. View park maps and photographer locations!

Step 2: After your vacation, go to DisneyPhotoPass.com to view your photos. You will need to log into your account using your email address and password. Be sure to claim your photos within 30 days of your vacation!

Step 3: Claim any Disney's PhotoPass cards you used during your trip by entering the ID numbers after you log in.

Step 4: Place your order to recieve your PhotoCD."

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. We are considering ordering the CD ahead of time, but we don't want to have to take the camera into the parks at all so my question is, will the photographers take pictures of the major icons without people in the picture (aside from the ones walking around in the background :rotfl:). For example if I want a picture of the just the castle, will they do that?

No, they can't.

You can buy a CD of Disney stock photos. I think it costs around $40.

Honestly, I wouldn't go without a camera. Some of my favorite photos from our trip were of things photopass photographers wouldn't be able to get.

What is the code to get 15% off using your disney visa on the photopass?

I am excited about the chance to pre-purchase the photo CD w/copyrights. my last trip when my son was only 10 months and my oldest was 12, we spent over $70 just on pics from Blizzard Beach not to mention all of the "ride Photos" at the "other"(non disney) parks we visited... This trip with 3 kids 14,3 and 1 I expect there to be a LOT more photos.
Does this include photos with the characters too??? And is it really unlimited for just the one price?

Sorry to jump on your thread OP...

The only ride photo that can be added to your photopass card is Test Track.

Some of the characters will have a photopass character, some won't.

One of the major reasons why I plan to pre purchase and use photopass is for the photos with the characters. At Mickey's Toon Town tent, there are many photographers inside ready to take your photos with the Fairies and Princesses. Afterwards, you can add cool borders to these photos. You can also find the photographers at ANY of the character meet and greets (ie Epcot Character spot). Usually any place where there are characters, there are photopass people! If you do the BBB or the Pirates make over thing, you can go to a "studio" to have your photos done there too. You can also have resort photos done. Plenty of places and opportunities to have your photos taken. And yes, it is unlimited. It's up to you to make an effort to stop at a photographer and take a shot or many (most will take a min of 2 pics for you). You can also take ONE photo the photographer takes, and you can zoom in, crop, add different borders and change that one photo into countless different pictures that you add to the CD.

Are there any discounts available to the general public for pre-ordering?

Are there any discounts available to the general public for pre-ordering?

I pre-ordered my photo pass cd this past June and used the code for Disney Visa holders and received a 15 or 20 % discount (Please note, I DO NOT HAVE A DISNEY VISA, but it worked anyway)

We went in May and had pre-ordered the CD. It was great but I found that there were not as many Photographers as there had been in the past. Like normally there are 2-3 in front of RNR but on this trip twice we went by and there were none and the 3rd time there was just one and she was sitting over by the drink stand in the shade.

Be sure to ask the photographer for anything special they can do. In front of EPCOT they had my 8yo jump into the air with his arm stright up, when we looked at the photos online he was getting carried away with balloons (like from UP)

We split the CD with neighbors that went the week before us and they only got about 25 pictures over a week and we got 80 in 4 days. thats before modifing any pics. Sometimes you have to be more proactive to get the pics. Make sure to tell the Photograper that you have already pre-purchased the cd and would like a few different shots.

does anyone know how close to your trip you can pre-order your cd?? i have been all over the photopass site and i can't find it anywhere!?!?:confused3
please help...we leave next month

The preorder code expires after 60 days, so you should wait until a week before your trip.

Did the regular price of the Photopass go up??? I could have sworn I just paid $120 in Feb for it.
