Questions about phone for dd12?

While that sounds somewhat "heavy-handed", it really isn't...

I use an Android device over Net10 (both Net10 and Straight Talk are owned by Tracfone/America Movil) and I am a daily data user (though once the phone is home for the day, it accesses data from my Wi-Fi network) -- I am yet to get near 2GB (or even 1GB, for that matter).

Basically, so long as you don't watch HD video on Netflix/YouTube when you're out and about, the 2GB cap is no big deal...

I agree that for most people 2GB is more than adequate. I just think that if they are going to limit it to 2GB they should say so and not call it unlimited.

I'm still grandfathered into an unlimited data plan on ATT and I use well under a 1GB a month because I'm mostly in WiFi territory. But somebody with a an hour train ride commute every morning and afternoon very well might be interested in frequent streaming of HD video and that unlimited would catch their eye.

My DD11 has an iPhone 4s. We have a data share plan, and I gave my DD11 my iPhone 4s when I got my iPhone 5.

I have an iPhone 4 (previously used) and use Net10. $45/month (with autopay) plus tax for unlimited everything. It is the same service as StraightTalk and it uses ATT towers. Net10 "gives" 50,000 minutes a month to use on talk/text/data so I am not sure if there is a 2G cap on data. I will probably never come close to using that much data anyway.

Right now I have the only smartphone in my family, but even if we were to add 3 more lines it would be cheaper than a plan with any of the major carriers. And there would be limits to how much we can talk and use data.

The biggest drawback is that if you want a new phone you have to pay full price.

It looks like Net10 and StraightTalk are essentially identical plans. Cap at 2gb and throttling (slowing speeds) over 100mb per day.

I just did a quote on the Verizon website for 2 iPhone 5 16GB with 1GB of shared data, unlimited talk, unlimited text. It is $400 for the phones and then $130 a month.

If you went with the iPhone 4 or 4s the phone would be free but you wouldn't be on the LTE network.

We have ATT, but we have 3 iPhones on a 10gig a month plan on shared data, unlimited talk and unlimited text.

We have a FAN discount code for my husbands work, but it comes out to 170 / month with taxes.
