Questions about ordering/paying at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre

If we pay OOP for our lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre, will they let our 11 year old order from the children's menu? Or will she have to order from the regular menu?

And/OR - if we use our DDP credit instead (have not decided yet) - will our 11 year old be allowed to order from the children's menu with the understanding that they still take a full adult TS off her DDP?

Are the shakes "liquidy" enough to drink, or are they very thick and more like a dessert?

TIA!

This is the only place that I ever ran into a problem with my older child ordering from a kids menu. We were on the dining plan and the waitress would not allow my son to order a kids meal. We said fine, then we will pay out of pocket for his kids meal and ordered it anyway. I think it probably depends on the server-the one was had was super crabby!

The last milkshake that I had there was thick-more of a dessert than a drink.

If you use your DDP credits you should be able to use an adult credit (11 y/o) for a kid's meal. It costs Disney less, right? I think PP experience was probably just the server. Maybe the server was worried about the 18% tip?

We've ordered kid's meals for adults at several places (paying OOP). My 2 DSis and myself even did this at Brown Derby for lunch. We weren't very hungry and it was hot out. The server was more than accomodating-the only thing he said was that we would have to pay for our drink instead of getting the one that's inc. with the kid's meals. He even told us (if we were worried we wouldn't get enough to eat) that we could double or triple one of the kid's meals. We all elected to just get the regular one (we all had the kid's chicken). We were fine.

Last year my DD turned 10 while we were there. I had her on our package as an adult so she could get her choice of adult or kid's meals. The few times when she opted for a kid's meal I elected to pay OOP. I wasn't going to waste an adult credit for a kid's meal. Oh, and there were several TS locations (50's PTC and Kona for two) that offered larger versions of kid's meals-they called them junior meals. Just like the kid's meals but more food.

This is the junior Nuggest at PTC. It was a lot of food (unfortunately it wasn't very good :confused3)

And here's the junior Ravioli at Kona. DD10 really loves Ravioli and it's not offered as an adult option. This was the first time we heard of "junior" portions.

Check with your server and see if there's a junior portion of whatever kid's meal your kid wants.
HTH.

They really should have a "junior" menu for the children older than 9 but not ready for the adult menu.

We ate there 2 weeks ago and had no problems. I had problems at Tony's. Like you said, it depends on the server.
