Questions about not going to HHN

So, we just completed our first trip to Uni and stayed at RPR, loved all of it! Upgraded to Season Pass and could go again in October. Thursday 10/25 to Sunday 10/28. Every night has an HHN scheduled.

I will admit, I do not know a lot about HHN yet, but I really dislike haunted houses. So far not leaning towards attending. I am trying to decide if an October trip is worth it or if we should consider another time of the year.

My questions are...
1. What time do the parks close on HHN days?
2. Are the parks crowded during the day - before HHN starts?
3. Are the rides open during HHN?
4. Is there value in going to HHN if not visiting any of the houses?

Thanks much for any and all info you can provide, greatly appreciated!

1. The only park involved is Universal Studios. Islands of Adventure will stay open longer. I think US will close by 5PM ??
2. The crowds vary by day of the week just like WDW. If it is a HHN night, expect more people at IOA.
3. Rides are open (most of them) during HHN
4. Walking areas become "scare zones" with various creepy characters in the main walking paths. If your party will freak out, not recommended. They were some of the creepier areas my last trip.

Studios closes at 5pm on HHN for anyone not staying for the event.......you will be cleared from the park. IOA stays open later on these nights.......

Crowds start to build more mid to late afternoon. People arrive for the Stay and scream where people stay in the park to get ahead of the outside queue.

There are 6 rides open during the event.

No, I don’t think there’s “value” if you’re not doing the houses. With that, the event is a huge amount of fun and scare zones are fabulous......

But, doesn’t sound like you would really enjoy it.....don’t know if you have kids or not, it’s definitley not an event for them.........it’s adult oriented and can be intense. People will scare you and jump out at you as you pass through the scare zones.

Have a google of previous events......loads of info online about it.

Two separate issues.

If you don’t want to go to the party, don’t go. I don’t either.

But an October visit is totally fine even without going to the party. Only thing you’ll see during the day are out of context weird props just sitting there. That’s all.

I think it's always worth it to visit UO! If I wasn't attending HHN, I'd go to the Studios during the day and then head over to IOA afterwards.

I will add that I am the biggest horror wimp!! I don't watch scary movies and I hate to be scared. But- I went to HHN two years ago because the rest of my family wanted to go and I didn't want to wimp out. I actually liked it! We went again last year and plan to do so again this year. I guess there's something about HHN that has become addictive!
