I needed a reservation for Dec. 27-31 and could not get one (there was nothing available at values or mods) when I called back to check on different dates I was able to get Dec. 25-31 at POR which is the resort I had previously asked for. Now I have a reservation with two nights (the 25th and the 26th) that I dont need and I am wondering how there was availability for the same week plus two nights (does that make sense) I will need to call and cancel the first two nights of my stay and then I have the original five nights I called for in the first place, will my reservation still be good for those nights? How does that work? I am confused and I hope I'm not confusing everyone else so that some one can explain this to me. Thanks

I have found when checking availability the week between Xmas and NY, if I wanted less then 7 days, I was given no availability. When I called I was able to get 6 nights (12/26-1/1) and had several choices available for a value or moderate.

To answer your question, you should be able to cancel the two nights with no problem.

Thanks for your response, when I hung up the phone I was confused about why I was able to get my second reservation choice when it was still during the same time frame as my first choice. I dont want to hold on to the two days that I dont need in case someone needs them but I was afraid I would lose my whole reservation if I canceled them since they were telling me no availability during the 27-31. I've probably been worried over nothing.

I would call and ask Disney. There were some reports awhile back when people went to do that and were told them couldn't.

Yikes, maybe I should still be worried. I appreciate you passing that info along to me safteymom

I thought (Don't KNOW) that Disney works a lot like the airline. For a flight, if you miss or cancel the outbound (first leg of your reservation) flight, your entire itinerary is cancelled. If you cancel your first night - you cancel the entire reservation. If this were true, you would need to re-book, and they have already told you there is nothing available for the nights you want. I would be sure so you are not disappointed.

Last year my SIL and MIL went over the holidays and were in the same position...wanted to stay 4 or 5 nights, but had a reservation for 6....they paid the deposit, waited a couple of weeks and then called to cancel the first night...no one gave them any grief....my SIL did nt think they would let them do it, but my MIL was determined to try...she did it and still hasn't let my SIL forget it!!
