I know this has been discussed before, but what are the prices of this ? Is it at DTD? I think I heard others by the potato locally and just by the disney extras while on vacation. Tell me more! please! Would love to see photos of the choices too!

I think it would be a cute thing to have by my pc at home to remind us of our vacation. Maybe each of my family can have a one to change as they wish.

With tax, the Build Your Own Potato head is $20.24 ($19.00 + $1.24 tax) as of 08/31/07, at Once Upon a Toy in DTD. It is also offered at MouseGear in Epcot for the same price (I believe).

In retrospect I should have bought my Potato head at home instead of taking up precious parts room in my box. But, at least I remembered to cram the butt full of pieces too. Mickey Ears, tickets, Mickey Ice Creams, Fairy wings, pirate eyes & boots, Stitch Surf board, Goofy hat - they have a ton of choices. I need more eyes and noses though. This was my second birthday present to myself (because I believe in spoiling my inner 12 year old).

Sorry that I don't have any pictures of mine dressed up - but that is a great idea.

they have a neat Pirates of the Caribbean outfit--complete with snap on parrot! When I'm in a nasty mood, I dress my Mr. Potatohead in the pirate costume.
at work, when I'm happy, I use the Disney tourist outfit complete with half eaten Mickey Ice Cream bar and balloons.

Build Your Own Mr. Potato Head locations at WDW:

Once Upon a Toy at DTD
County Bounty in Toontown at MK
MouseGear at Epcot
L.A. Props at the Studios
Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures at AK
Everything Pop at Pop Century

Many people do buy their Mr. Potato Heads at home, and fill up their boxes with just parts while at the parks.

You can see pictures of many of the parts that have been sold over the years here:

We have this on the left coast also in DCA. I always stuff a box full of parts only and then buy the potatoes at Target or Walmart. I have become the queen of potato head box packing, if you really take a few minutes you'd be surprised how much you can get in one!

We also have this new thing out here, it is an acrylic giant Mr Potato Head and his hat comes off so you can stuff him full of parts. It is $45 and you can get easily 2 or 3 boxes worth of parts inside, plus you have the cool jumbo potato to hold them all in.

I never throught of not getting the Mr. Potato body. In truth I thought you had to get the body. It would be great if you could fill the box with parts! Is doing this something that is frowned upon?

Not at all!! I had a CM suggest I get the body somewhere else. Then she personally packed my box so I could get more in!

I must admit I am totally addicted to WDW Mr. Potato Head pieces. When I am having a bad day, I dress up my guy in a new Disney outfit. Right now, he is Peter Potato Pan.

On my last trip, I noticed that there weren't any new pieces and there weren't enough pieces that I wanted to fill a box, so I did the My Little Pony box instead. Let me tell you, with my Mr. Potato Head experience, I was able to cram everything (minus any huge plastic pieces) plus two ponies into a box. I do like the My Little Ponies, but I am hoping that on my next trip there will be new Mr. Potato Head pieces.

Word of advice about Mr. Potato Head pieces...

1. Some CMs are more stringent about being able to close the box than others.
2. You don't need a body in the box. I doubt the CMs care first of all, and second of all if this is your second or third or tenth box, at some point you don't want to get bodies anymore because you have had your fill.
3. Ask CMs for help. Some are really familiar with the Mr. Potato Head pieces and will know how many Mary Poppins pieces there are. I had a great CM who got my overflowing box neatly packed away and sent me back to get Mary Poppins umbrella and hat.

Thank you all so much for having this post here. My DS is a huge Potato Head fan, won't go anywhere without it, and I was wanting to buy a box or two when I'm down in WDW next month. I knew the price and had read a few little things here and there but nothing like the information that is here, especially the site. Thanks!

We just packed a box in August.

There are cinderella, tink, peter pan, buzz lightyear, pirates, mickey and minnie, incredibles, goofy, donald, etc...etc...etc....accessories.

Make sure to get extra arms to hold the accessories (and make sure you check the arms you get...with ds3's help we ended up with 3 right arms that make a thumbs down when you put them on the left side).

Here are a couple pics...
