Questions about Kid's Nite Out babysitting

I'm curious about the logistics of using Kid's Nite Out. My kids (age 5 and 2) go to bed pretty early (usually by 8pm). When DH and I go out to dinner here at home, we feed them dinner first and the babysitter gets them baths and into bed while we are out and then spends the rest of the time sitting on our couch. I'd love to use Kid's Nite Out on our upcoming trip, but I know that they can't do baths so would they just play with them for a while in our room and then put them to bed for us? And then sit in the dark in our hotel room?

If you have used them before, can you describe how it worked?

I have never used them but when I was in the CP, my roommate also worked for Kids Nite Out. She always brought her laptop and a book with a booklight (this was pre-smartphone.)

I imagine once the kids are down sitters now probably do something similar (read a book, look at their phones, study if they’re in college, etc.)

Hopefully others who have used KNO recently can weigh in. Most of the KNO jobs my friend had were in the evening/putting the kids down and she just sat in the dark and read with her booklight or worked quietly on her laptop.

ETA: For activities, my friend would go for walks with the kids, take them for dinner if needed (usually the resort QS), take them to get ice cream or a treat if the parents were okay with it (depending on what resort they were at) or just stay in the room and play. Whatever the parents were comfortable with - some preferred that they stay in the room, others were ok with her taking them to other areas of the resort to eat or walk.

Thanks, this is all great to know!

If there is a playground at your hotel they will take them there. Also walks, ice cream etc.
we had a 1-bedroom villa and told our kno sitter to watch tv in the bedroom after the kids were asleep. When we got home she was sitting at the kitchen table reading a book on a kindle.
