First:

Jiko or Boma? We've been to Boma and liked it, but have heard good things about Jiko too. Thought we'd try something new. Is it good? And if so, what is good? Will the kids like it, or Boma better? We have a 7:30 for Jiko and an 8:30 for Ohana (we've been to Ohana before too). Help??? Of the three, which one? Also is the mac an cheese really that good? Can you get it with the filet?

Second:

Condisering Tutto Ilaliano, Teppan Edo, and Biergarten for our Epcot night. We've only been to Tutto out of these three. Hear good things about Biergarten, and thought it'd be cool to try. Will the kids like it? I should say I dont like sausage at all....lol. Teppan sounds good too..I love our japanese steakhouse. But is it the typical that you could get at home?

I know this is a lot of questions, but Im torn over our last two decisions. If you have any thoughts about anything, please chime in...

Thanks :) Happy vacations to all!

We have been to all three (Jiko, Boma, 'Ohana). In terms of dining experience, Jiko has very little in common with Boma or 'Ohana. It's more sedate table service -better for adults than kids - and is conventional table service as opposed to the actual or quasi-buffet experience of the other two. That said, WDW always caters to kids so there will be something for kids to eat at Boma, but probably fewer appealing choices than the other two. The mac and cheese is interesting but not that different from regular mac and cheese other than the color (white). I have seen it served with the filet before but I think there are more interesting choices. Unfortunately the toasted couscous is gone (not permanently I hope).

The menu changed recently and some of the more exotic dishes are gone (it's still exotic, but not quite as much), including my favorite the braised lamb shank. Still, I would be happy to eat nearly everything on the menu. There is a very good peppercorn pork loin and the hummus appetizers are excellent. DW had a great BBQ flatbread (which is showing up on more and more menus now in various forms). In general, the menu reminds me of Indian restaurant menus. If you like that, you'll probably like Jiko.

I like Jiko better for adult dining; we've had good luck enjoying long quiet meals here splitting an excellent bottle of African wine. I like that the restaurant is dark and we've had decent service here. The food is more adventurous at Boma but it's hella noisy there.

Out of the others, I like Biergarten. I am also not a sausage eater but I thought the food was decent and the atmosphere is fun. Teppen Edo is a hibachi restaurant, something we have plenty of here at home. And I did not like Tutto's food very much. If I want good Italian, I go to Il Mulino at the Swan.

There was a thread a couple days ago saying that the filet with mac & cheese had been removed from the menu for Jiko. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2579237

We like Boma, 'Ohana, and Teppan Edo. Haven't tried Biergarten and have no desire to. We don't have a hibachi restaurant here, so TE is fun for us. My boys are 9 and 7, and they both liked Boma, but it can be a pain to get to, depending on where you're staying, if you don't have a car.

Of the ones you listed, I would choose Boma and Teppan Edo.

I agree totally on your recommendation for Italian food---Il Mulino @ the Swan is AWESOME!!!!!
