We're going to Disneyland in December to see Disney all dressed-up for the Christmas (our first holiday trip). We've heard good things about the Small World holiday and I was wondering if there was any chance it might be reopened by December. Has anyone heard anything?

Also, I've heard--and I'm almost embarrassed to say this--that Small World is currently being refurbished because it can no longer "carry the weight" ;) of today's average park goers. Is this true? :rotfl: I've been told that they have to deepen the moat and consequently raise the scenery considerably as well.

I don't know if it will be open, I guess there is always a chance. I hope for you it is because it's the most magical part of Disneyland during the holidays!!!! pixiedust:

it's scheduled to be re-opened by end of november

Yes that is the main reason for this really long refurb. The plan is for IASW to open around late November, but recently Al Lutz (Miceage) wrote an article stating that IASW's opening date might be delayed all the way to next January. I would just wait and see.

I have friends who work on a cruise ship and they said the US coast guard is making them reduce the capacity that the ship can hold due to the increasing weight/size of the average American. :scared1: Gotta stop eating all the fast "food"

Well, I for one am bummed because I won't get to see IASW on my trip this summer. I have read that it's better than the one at WDW, and it been a lot of years since I've been back to DL. Too, too bad...

DS6's favorite ride is IASW. When we told him we told him about the refurbishment, he cried for two days straight. He was ready to cancel the the entire trip.

Disneyland's IASW is so much better!

That's how I feel. We have a trip planned for Sept. and that is my favorite attraction of all time.

FYI, there are rumors out there that Disney will be adding Mickey, Nemo, Stitch, and a few other "Disney" characters to IASW. I guess we'll see when the ride reopens!

Also, my son (3) is devastated about it being closed (we're local so we're there all of the time) so I have him watch this about once a week:
