this august will be our first time "home". we will be going to HHI resort and staying in a 2 bedroom villa. it will be me , my DW, DD (3) and DS (2) and my parents. we have absolutely no idea what to expect but are excited nontheless.

(1) is there a specific location to request for the villa as far as view and access to pool and activities?

(2) are there any "dont miss" activities that my children might enjoy?

(3) are there any family friendly restaurants near by and are reservations necessary?

(4) are there any character meals or interactions at HHI?

(5)do they have fireworks (i thought i read something about this on the disboards)??

(6) where can i get info on dolphin excursions? ( also thought i read something about that on disboards)

thanks for reading and any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

We really thought our first trip there was awesome. Here are some answers.

1. building 30 and 31 have full marsh views however we stayed in Live Oak Lodge and has nice views as well.

2. get an activity sheet when you check in, my daughter loved ancient art of fish painting, it is a frozen fish, they paint it, then applied the imprint to a tee shirt!

3. San Miquels and Gusieppi right by the lodge

4. No characters at all, but tons of activities for the kids and even teens

5. fireworks Tuesday night at the Cove but the display is right behind Disney lodge, best seat at on upper deck of recreaton area above the pool. Short fireworks though!

6. Dolphin excursion by disney was awesome. $40.00 per person / 2 hours. Pick a DVC member discount day and it is $36.00. a few bucks more than tours offered off site however the bonus at Disney is a 6 person max. per trip, making it a more exclusive tour for the family versus a bigger tour boat! Runs almost everyday at 9, 11, and 1. Terrific tour guide named Craig, was very informative and helpful!

The resort is pretty compact, so all buildings are close to everything at the resort. The fireworks are every Tuesday night from June 22 - August 10. There are several dining options within a short walk (Kingfisher, Scott's Fishmarket, Bistro 17, Parrot Cove, Little Venice, San Miguels, Ocean Grille.

The resort has it's own mascot/character - Shadow the golden retriever, who makes scheduled appearances during the week. Other activities are the campfire, Kid's Night Out, Storytelling, magic shows, music.

Have a great stay! :)
