Questions about handicap room and online checkin

Hey everyone, quick question here,

Little backstory, on 9/17 I am checking in to two rooms at ASMo, one room will have myself and one cousin, and the other room will have my aunt and the other cousin. My aunt has a bad knee and can't walk on it or stand for long periods of time, so she will have an ECV for our stay (already booked with Walker Mobility for that), according to her, last time she was there she needed a handicapped accessible room to be able to maneuver the ECV in and out, and she needs the accessible bathing facilities, so I wanted to put in a request for that. Is that something I should handle with the online check in or do I need to call them up? If it matters any, my rooms are booked with a CM discount under my friends name, but I have the confirmation numbers linked to my MDE account.

The other question, regarding online checkin, which may render this moot, is there any reason why MDE is offering me online check in for only the one room that I am in and not her room? She has no MDE account and I linked both reservations to me, shouldn't I be able to do both? If not, I suppose I'll be calling anyway!

Thanks,
Matt

The best way to make room requests is to call and have them added to your reservation.

Should I call the resort directly or the general reservations line?

Will they speak to me about it even though it's booked under my CM friends name?

The "resort" line goes to a call center. Are you listed on the room? If the room is not in your name, you need to have your friend call the reservations line ASAP to see if a handicapped room is even available.

I'd suggest that you call Disney Travel directly and make the reservation requests/notations. If you have all of the information regarding the reservation i.e. the name of the reservation, reservation number, guests' names, etc., they should be able to talk with you. I know that I've called about my daughter's and my mother's reservations before and as long as I could give them that information, they talked with me.

**Edited to add: If you have two rooms and want to be near each other, I would suggest that you ask that they "link" the two reservations.

Just got off the phone with Disney, situation handled, thanks everyone.

They played a little 20 questions with me on the reservation just to authenticate, and then they made my change very quickly. I wish all call centers worked that well! I wish Verizon Wireless would learn from Disney!

Yep, they like the question game. But, you had all of the answers so you "won". :thumbsup2

All things considered, their questions were not too much of a hassle, I had the information ready, and I think it's good they don't let just anyone with a confirmation number change things :). It was a much more pleasant experience than some other companies I've had to prove my identity too....

I've always had good experiences with Disney Travel castmembers too. I'm glad that you were able to have the notations made. ::yes::
