Questions about Grand Floridian stay

We are renting points and staying in a 2 bedroom villa this summer. I have never rented before and have only stayed with cash bookings before so have questions about our upcoming stay. There will be 9 (5 adults, 2 kids & 2 infants) people staying in the villa, 2 will be in pack and plays. Will towels be provided for all 9 people? Also is there enough bedding and pillows for everyone since we will be using the pull out couches? Are there towels available to use at the pool? There will be a highchair and pack and play in the room, is it possible to request an extra of each? Does the resort provide DVD players or is it easier to just connect the ipad to the tv? I'm assuming we will be able to order room service? And lastly if we purchase the refillable mugs where is the nearest place we can fill the mugs? I'm assuming it's just glassware available in the villas, so it might be best to have mugs for my 2 nieces.

If anyone has any other hints or tips that would be great! Thanks!

The 2BRs at Grand Floridian are spectacular. Enjoy your stay!

Towels are provided for all 9 people. Make sure all 9 are on your reservation. Towels are refreshed once during your stay on the 4th day. (Or after the third night). You will have a washer/dryer in the room, so you can wash them more frequently if you want. Bring HE detergent (or buy it there)

There are plenty of bedding and pillows.

You can request another pack n play and high chair. We brought our own (but we drove). You might want to call there and verify.

Towels are available at the pool, so there is no need to bring your room towels down.

DVD players are not provided, but you can always call and request one. I haven't tried myself so I am not sure on this one.
Personally, I use my iPad and an HDMI cable that fits into an adaptor for the iPad. (actually, we are always too busy to watch movies).

Room service is available.

Refillable mugs can be purchased and refilled at the quick-service restaurant, Gasparillas, but the closest place to refill them is at the snack bar/ bar at the pool, which is right next to the DVC Villas. There is a place at the pool where you order your food, and then around to the left side of the same building are the soda fountains, coffee, and a sink where you can wash out your mugs. This is also a great spot for a quick breakfast.

Depending on the age of your nieces, there is a princess parade in the Grand Floridian main lobby in the afternoon around 3:30 (but check). They can get dressed up and be part of the parade with all the other kids. I think Cinderella and Prince Charming make an appearance.

You usually get one bath towel per sleeping space. Since the villa sleeps nine, you should get nine bath towels every four days. You'll also get maybe two hand towels per bathroom and one facecloth per sleeping space.

We have stayed twice at VGF and both of our 1 bedroom villas had a DVD player. You can borrow 2 DVD's at a time from the concierge desk in the lobby of VGF which is a great perk! We also usually bring an Amazon Firestick so we can stream movies or shows as well. We stay most of the time in the parks but it's nice to wind down some evenings with Disney movies playing. LOVE VGF!!!

Thanks so much for all this information, this is great! I will definitely look into the princess parade, I think my nieces would love this. Also do you know if the pullout couch in the living room is comfortable?

Good to know, thanks.

Do you borrow the DVD's at the front desk? And can non members rent?

Thanks everyone! This really helps with my planning.

The fold down bed is about twin bed size. It is probably not so comfortable for a grown man, but my 26 year old daughter slept on it and did fine.

The sofa bed is quite comfortable. One of the better sofa beds you will find.

FWIW our studio in December had the DVD player in the room.

They did have the DVDs at the front desk (at the villas, not the main hotel), but I think we had to show DH's membership card. Not 100% sure. It's supposed to be a member perk; most DVC resorts have a community center and checkouts are done with the DVD member card. Though actually now that I think about it I was able to check out movies without the card (I'm the associate and therefore don't have a card in my name) at SSR...

The fold out bed is a double. My husband sleeps on it often when we go to VGF so that he can leave for golf and not wake anyone. The fold out chair is a single.

I am talking about the fold down bed that folds in to the TV cabinet. Definitely a single bed.

We have never had to show our DVC member ID to borrow DVD's. They just have to have your room number and signature.

I thought the Murphy bed was slightly narrower and shorter than a standard twin bed. More bunk size than twin size.

We brought our DVC card, but they didn't ask to see it. And the player was under the TV, behind a little door. We didn't have to request it.

We are actually thinking about taking a newer movie with us to watch on our next trip (Sept 17) and of course they have a pretty large collection at the check in desk.

Technically the DVDs are strictly for members, so if you reservation doesn't show you as a member you might not be able to get check one out.

The following is a cut and paste from the Disney site:
"1 King Bed and 1 Queen Bed and 2 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofas and 2 Twin-Size Pull Down Beds"

We have stayed in a dedicated 2 bd, and had the 2 queen beds in the second bedroom instead of the extra couch.

There is not a fold out chair at VGF. I slept on the Murphy bed and thought it was fine, and I'm Pooh sized.

Yeah, that is for the lock-off 2BR. The 2BR dedicated will only have one murphy bed.
