Ok ok I know that this has probably been asked before but I am going to ask again. I would like to know the low down on renting Enterprise at MCO. I am renting from June 27 to July 3 and so far Enterprise has been the lowest by far. I am getting a standard for $120 inclusive. The cheapest from National or Alamo, who are my #1 and #2 choices respectively, are still over $300. Which by the way blows my mind since they are all in the same space and share the same cars at MCO and are all owned by the same company.

Specifically what I would like to know is do they follow the same procedures as Alamo and National when you get your car? Or do you have to physically walk down to the ground level and wait in line at the counter? Will I get the hard sell on insurance? When I use National I just go right to my car of choice with my Exec membership. With Alamo I go to the kiosk and then to my car of choice. Will I have a similar thing with Enterprise or will I have to wait in line?

I am still holding out hope that I can use National because I am now spoiled by my Exec benefits but price trumps all. I hope that as I get closer the rate will come down but since I am close to July 4 I am not as hopeful as in the past. I am not worried about vehicle quality since the cars are all shared and I have never drove a bad car with Alamo or National.

Gmeh1, I know you will read this so I welcome your comments and I actually have a question for you as well. Do you think when I am looking for my car and my reservation is for Enterprise I could possibly ask someone working there and I flash my EC Exec card and I can get a car from the Emerald Aisle? Have you seen anyone do that or is not allowed? If I can't it isn't a problem I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks to everyone for your help!

Bumping here!! I know if Gmeh1 reads this I will get an answer but he might be working late. Isn't there anyone else with some first hand info?

Hi, No, unfortunately, you cannot use your EC for a rental at Enterprise. The EC aisles are reserved for folks who have made their reservations with National. The agents for both Enterprise and Alamo are not allowed to touch those cars. Now, having said that, the agents for Enterprise will gladly try to fulfill your wishes for a car. You will go to the counter and show your license and credit card and then go to the garage where you will be met by a friendly Customer Service Agent who will walk with you to your selected car and answer questions and note any damages you have. They may offer you upgrades or insurance and a "no" will suffice.
Yes, the three brands do share space and cars, but, are set to three different business models (which seems to not apply at MCO, heavy tourist activities sort of blend them all together). There are times when one brand will be less expensive than another. It all seems to boil down to time and demand. Your rate is really good for one of the heaviest travel times to FL.
Have you looked into joining Enterprise's "Enterprise Plus" program. Free to join. Hope this info helps. Have a great day. :)

Thanks gmeh1. Thanks for the info. Just so we are on the same page, if I go with Enteprise and I have reserved a full size, I would probably get the same full size that I would find on the EA? I hear from other sources that when they rented from Enterprise, their car had high miles and it was a low level model or like barebone model. Whenever I got a National car, it always had some extra goodies on the car whether it was XM radio or a backup camera or whatever. How do you handle that at MCO? Do certain cars with certain options go to one and not to the other?

Thanks again.

Oh something else gmeh1, there is only the counter option and then walk to the garage? There is no bypass like the other two? I already joined the plus program. Is there a separate line for that? Are the lines long? I know it would depend on the time of day and such. Just a general idea.

Thanks again.

We share cars, we don't have barebone cars, per se. High miles, the only difference in mileage is on the EA, where we put the lower mileage cars there. Alamo, Enterprise and National reg. cars all come from the same pool. When the come in from the prep area we look at the mileage and assign from there depending on the need. If you had a car with XM it was because the car had less than a certain amount of miles or the trial had not expired. Back up cameras are found in some mini vans and SUV's and a few cars.

The counter service is the only way you can get a car at Enterprise. There is rarely a line there.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks gmeh1. Thanks for being such a wealth of info for us disers who rent a car. Keep up the good work
