questions about dvc points somewhere else?

My hubby and I are thinking of buying the DVC, We went there last year and would like to buy it, but maybe would like to go else where this fall. If we were to buy a resale now would we have enough time to book a trip somewhere else using DVC points?

It's hard to say for sure yes or no because you don't say what you have in mind. In general, yes you will probably be able to book something. You would have the option of booking Concierge Collection (various hotels) night by night or trading into one week exchanges. The one week options might be more difficult depending upon where you want to go.

The one "kicker" would be your Use Year. Everyone gets their point allotment based on Use Year, the month when your points start. If you had an April Use Year, your points would run from April 1-March 31 every year. You can take non-DVC trips during the last 60 days (2 months) but the reservation has to be made before 60 days to the end of the Use Year. The Use Year you purchase would have to allow you to do this.

Of course, Vero and HHI are DVC options that could be booked right up until the end of the Use Year.

Very likely but you won't know until you get there. If this is your plan, you better get busy now. Other than WDW, options would include DVC resorts at HH and VB, Interval International options and Concierge collection options. Fall should be an easy time to get some good deals if you can travel short notice or off season. I can give specific recommendations if you need them and give me a little more info. Good luck.
