questions about Disneyland

Why would you complain? I understand how you dislike the HMH. However, you paid for a special event. If the event takes place, they have fulfilled their commitment to you. You say that you did not pay to see NBC designs during the anniversary event. However, you may have, depending upon how Disney times everything. If it was crucially important that nothing be NBC themed in order for meto attend the anniversary events, I would have confirmed this before purchasing tickets.

I am not sure there is much to complain about if there was nothing promised as to which theme would be present during the events.

The packages for this event went on sale in January. Pretty tough to know whether or not hmh is going to be taking over the HM, that early in the year. Furthermore, it is the 40th Anniversary Event for the Haunted Mansion. NOT an anniversary for hmh/nbc. I can provide links for you regarding the 40th Event, if would like me to. It is clearly stated in the event information, that it is indeed for the HM's 40th Anniversary.

I see that you are straight forward in your feelings/opinions and that's great. But the OP is looking forward to seeing the HM with NBC layover. I don't see the point in changing the OP topic towards your hatred (my word) of HM with NBC. If you feel this way truely make it known to Disney, there are many people on this board that enjoy the NBC layover (myself included) and those that don't appreciate it but don't feel the need to judge it whenever the smallest opportunity presents itself. JMHO.

It is interesting what people remember or wish to interpret based upon ones post. I have stated more than once, I don't have a problem in and of its self regarding the nbc theming but rather I do not agree with that theming being placed upon the HM.
I do not
feel the need to judge it whenever the smallest opportunity presents itself.
It is your opinion that I do that, for I do not. And even if I decided to do so, everyone is entitled to their opinion, so thank you for yours, and the above is what my sentiments are. A few of them anyway, regarding the subject of hmh/nbc.

Thank you....

Jack and Sally are sometimes out for photo ops. Last year, they started to appear after my Halloweentime trip had already taken place, darn it, so I missed them!! They are not out a lot, though, and when they are, it is usually near the Haunter Manssion. Some people think Jack looks bizarre because his head is not the right size in person, but maybe they have improved his costume by now!!:lmao:

Actually Sherry it was less about head size and more about his odd "jaw". :) The issue is poor Jack has a very hard head style to work with and he could have been just a big head like in the past but since the character has many more emotions and people like him to talk they had to tweak the design to allow him to talk. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo he has a weird Jaw :rotfl:

This is a picture from an article about Paris DL but it's the same costumes
http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2008/10/disneyland-paris-halloween-2008-part.html I can say honestly they were so wonderful to chat with in person you start to ignore his odd shaped head, they were a wonderful addition last year and VERY popular so should be back!

Thanks again Sherry.
Once I learn more on how it works to get published, I will ask my
"step" uncle more questions if you like. Maybe you can get whatever you are writing published also. I enjoy writing, but like I said I am not sure if I am talented enough to actually have anything published.

My "step" uncle rattled off several authors that the company he works for has as clients. Two I recognized right away. One was Stephanie Meyers, and the other is one of my dad's favorite author's James Patterson. Would be awesome to be in the same group as them. :cloud9: Dreaming. I know.

Well, I am crossing my fingers for you - that you get the novel published AND that you get to go to DLR and see the fun Halloween decorations, etc.! IF you find out for sure that you are going to DLR, you can help here on the board with every step of the planning. Everyone is very informative and eager to assist!:goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl2:Poor guy! I never got to see him in person in DL to assess the head/jaw issue for myself. I don't know why he and Sally were not out when I was there last year. I just recall reading that he was weird looking on the DIS!! But you are right - he has to talk! They can't just have Jack walking around without being able to speak

I find that some of the 'people characters' in costumes like Lilo or like Handy Manny look so oddly disproportionate relative to the 'real' people characters like the Princesses or Jack Sparrow or Alice. Lilo has an enormous head! Handy Manny is practically falling over from the weight of that head! They are supposed to be real people but they are ten times the size of the Princesses and Alice, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hey Sherry!!! It's a go!!! I just got the phone call this morning. My "agent" step uncle told me I have a lot of talent. He says he thinks the novel is really good. I just need to add to it some and add a conflict. He said it was "too perfect" :rotfl2: the couple needs a conflict to overcome.

DH said to go ahead and book the trip and put it on the charge card and we will deal with the payments later. Hopefully I can sell enough to make up for it if not I will feel so :guilty:

Thanks for the encouragement!!

Woo hoo!!:cool1::cool1: Yay! That's great! Congratulations!! Out of curiosity - not to spoil the whole plot of your romantic novel, but any idea what the conflict will be so that we can all root for the couple to overcome it and live happily ever after?

Anyway, your trip to DLR is on!:cool1: Double yay!:banana: And are you going to do an October trip or late September? Since you first posted this thread a while back, we have gotten the news that Space mountain will ALSO have a Halloween overlay (Ghost Galaxy) and there will be special Nightmare Before Christmas food served such as (Zero's Ghostly 'Ghoulash' served in Zero's dog bowl, probably served at Cafe Orleans, I would imagine), AND there will be a first-ever-for DLR Halloween nightly fireworks display, with Jack Skellington as Master of Scareamonies, and featuring all the Disney villains!!! So I think your daughter would be thrilled, don't you?

:laughing:No. I have to give it some more thought. I have no idea yet what their conflict will be. As I told Steve (step uncle) I hate conflict and avoid it at all cost so this will not be easy for me, but I am sure I am up to the challenge.

I am so excited about going to DL. Hope everything isn't all booked up and the flights haven't gone up. With the added attractions it makes it even more exciting. I haven't told DD yet just in case I can't find a flight or whatever.

By the way. How crowded would you expect it to be? I know "age old" question. :rotfl2: We will plan on going the days surrounding Halloween. Arriving on Friday and leaving on Monday so DD only misses those two days of school.

Yes, the "age old" question, indeed....well, it's hard to saw how crowded it will be. But I think you can safely assume it will be crowded. See, last October it was more crowded than was expected - even the CMs were not prepared for the crowds. I think that has a lot to do with certain conventions in that time frame, certain school breaks, Gay Days, certain DLR hotel discounts that were floating around which drew in a lot of people to book rooms, Columbus Day, Miley Cyrus' birthday bash, all kinds of things happening in October - on top of the fact that the HMH overlay is hugely popular and the Trick or Treat Party was happening throughout October. So take all of those ingredients (minus the hotel discounts) and add them to the new ingredients that are the Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy Overlay and the nightly Halloween fireworks, and the fact that more folks have APs than ever, and I would say we are looking a recipe for some heavy crowds! I am still going to go, one way or the other, and see it all, but I am fully prepared for it to be very crowded.

But you guys will be fine. With lists and proper planning and Fast Passes and all that, you all will be able to get a lot done.

Congratulations again! You must be so excited!:goodvibes
