I just got off the phone with Disney Travel to reserve a standard room at DLH. I asked her to put in a request for Dreams tower. SHe told me there are no standard rooms in Dreams, and that we would have to upgrade to a view room.?? Has anyone stayed in a standard room in Dreams? :confused3 Well, I decided to stick with a standard room because we like the old rooms too, they have a lot of charm!

Also, I spoke with the front desk to request a autographed pic for my DD3 and a balloon. We have done this in the past and they were waiting for her at check in. She said let me check your reservation first and see if you are celebrating anything. (we are, my DD3's 4th birthday!) She said it was not showing yet on the ressie because I had just made the reservation and added that if I request it, it does not mean I will get it!!:sad2: When did this start? I have to say the woman at front desk was quite short with me and could not wait to get off the phone. Perhaps I will give vacation planning a call. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe they stopped those freebies too!!

Funny, that happened to me. I had a DHL reservation for a standard room, and when I requested the Dreams Tower, the first response was exactly what they told you. But then I called back a 2nd and even a 3rd time, and they say that they do have standard rooms in the Dream Tower, and noted down my request.
I finally changed to the GCH because of all the remodelations, and because I love the feel of the GCH :thumbsup2
You should call again and asked them again, there's no loss! good luck!

And I would love to see if the balloons are still on, my DS will turn 9 the day we check in!

We just got back from DLH. I reserved a standard room. I asked for a Dreams room at check in and got it--8th floor, pool view.

Very nice! I do believe though that was probably a "complimentary upgrade". I too got mixed answers on this standard room for the Dreams tower question. I asked flat out if there were standard rooms in the Dreams tower, but the agent never gave me a direct answer. I then asked if I chose a view room if that would improve my odds of getting in Dreams, and the agent said yes. As it turned out, there weren't any standard rooms left at the super good rate at the time anyway, but the bump up to "lower resort view" was $25 per night so I went for it. I was told that would be either a DtD or pool view on floors 3-6 of one of the buildings; I could request Dreams but not be guaranteed. Upon check-in, the CM smiled at us and told us we were receiving an upgrade to a 7th floor room in the Dreams tower, DtD side. It was great. When talking to the agent during booking, I had inquired about floors 7 and up and been told they would be an additional $25 or $30 per night on top of the $25 bump for lower resort view. Whatever. Anyway, it occurred to me after I booked that while floors 3 and up all counted as non-standard in the Dreams tower, no one had said anything about floor 2, so there must be some standard rooms in there somewhere. Obviously a greater proportion of rooms in Dreams though are considered view than in the other towers by virtue of locations and window facing directions. Anyway, I only have this one experience to go on, so I am by no means an expert. Just thought it was interesting.

Thanks for the responses. I will make sure to call again and request DReams tower. Maybe I will luck out at check in and get an upgrade!! Weird how they are so shady about the standard rooms. The agent told me I had a better chance of getting in Dreams if I upgraded to a deluxe room too. But I did not.
As for the photos/balloons, I called VP and this CM was very nice. She took down my request for the pics and said it would be up to the hotel front desk to give her the balloon? But she said she would at least have the pic waiting on us ..yay!!:yay: SO, I will just see what happens!!
