My dear friend will be traveling to WDW in March of 2003 with her family (husband, 17-year-old son, 14-year-old daughter and 6-year-old daughter). They are interested in booking a room in one of the deluxe hotels. The two most important factors are: best possible RATE and great POOL area.

Any suggestions out there for them?

Thanks much!

The best pool at WDW is at YC/BC and with a code from www.mousesavers.com you may be able to get a good rate on room and tickets.

However, I also like the pool at Wilderness Lodge. It's not a great at Stormalong Bay, but it is a lot of fun. Nice whirlpool, too. And the kicker is the rates for WL are usually a lot less than other deluxe hotels (on-site). We're going to the BC in 2 weeks on a code but could have gotten WL for much, much less. We decided to try BC for the 1st time because of all we heard about the pool.

Hard decision to make!

YC and BWI have accomodations for 5, and both have great pools. Also, code rates are usually available for both. BWI garden view rooms offer the best value for a deluxe (after the lodges) IMHO because the standard view often oncludes a nice view of illuminations and the grounds are gorgeous. It's nice to be able to look into WS from your balcony:D .

Are these codes you write about all from Mousesavers - or are there other places she should check for them?

Thanks!

I don't think the Wilderness lodge rooms sleep 5, so that is probably out.

I have seen decent prices (under $200 with codes) on the contemporary wing rooms and the Polynesian Garden view rooms. The poly has nice pools, but no hot tub (which mattered to us). The contemp pools are supposed to be fun, even though they aren't heavily themed.

So, do the Polynesian and the Contemporary both offer rooms that can handle five? Would they be priced better than the Yacht Club or Beach Club?

Yacht Club, Beach Club, Contemporary or Polynesian? What do you Disney lovers recommend for a family of five? :p

Hi Snowmouse! I would go with YC. We've stayed there three times and love the location and the pool. My parents, brother and his two teenage daughters stayed together at the YC a couple years ago and the girls loved the area. Lots to do with Epcot, MGM and the Boardwalk all within walking distance. The surrey bikes are a riot, SAB is fun for all ages and the rooms at YC have all been recently renovated (like just finished). We were there over MEA. I'd maybe avoid BC because their renovations start in November and might not be totally complete by March. Good luck!

Another reason to avoid the BC is that some of the rooms do not have day beds, which they would want to sleep 5.

I don't think they could go wrong with any of those 3. The older kids will enjoy the boardwalk area & the proximity to the Studios & epcot. YC to MGM is a short boat ride. There is bus transportation to the MK & AK. It's not the greatest, but it's ok.

HI Snowmom,

I too, am going in march 2003. As of now, there are no codes out for that time. Since it is peak season Disney doesn't traditionally have discount codes for March. I am hopeful though, Easter is late April this year, so maybe they will have codes for the beginning of March.

The best thing to do is make a reservation and then you could always change it once the codes come out. Keep your eye on Mousesavers.com. They will even email you when their site is updated. Good luck.

Thanks much, everybody! We're really appreciating your comments and advice!
