Questions about currency and Palo

I was wondering about Cozumel and currency--will we have to do an exchange for pesos, or are American dollars commonly accepted?

Second, on Mexicali night, if we eat at Palo's, does the theme (and, more importantly, the casual dress) carry over, or should we plan on dressing up that night?

Thanks!

In Cozumel we used US dollars at the shops and at a small restaurant a few blocks away from the dock. I think the shops had items marked in US dollars...however, most of the time we were able to talk the price lower.

The dress code at Palo remains throughout the week, there's no tropical night there. We've eaten there on Tropical night, we just went and changed for the deck party afterward.

If you were a merchant in Cozumel would you want pesos?

Dollars are accepted (and desired) everywhere.

And if you have US cash, you have more bargaining power than if you pay with a credit card bc the merchant does not pay any fees. You should be able to negotiatate a solid 10% off the price of any good sized purchase if you pay cash.
