Questions about CRT and the dining plan

We are thinking of having dinner on our first night at CRT - there are 5 of us.
I know that you have to give a credit card number when you book. Do they charge your card the full amount when you book of just put a hold on your account?

We will be adding the dining plan but not until much closer to our trip, if I book CRT at 180 days without the dining plan and then want to use the plan for our meal what happens? Can my reservation be changed, will my credit card be credited?

I booked CRT yesterday and they do take full payment at time of booking.

we are on the dining plan. I heard it was a bit hit and miss if they take the money straight away- when you are on the dining plan.
I searched through a few threads on this topic and others have stated it is no problem to use the dining plan credts when you visit CRT and get a refund to your card.
you can change your ADR but im not too sure about the specifics. I think you have to get a refund and then rebook. Or perhaps you have to call

If you make the reservation before you have the DDP, they will charge your card. Once you add the DDP you can:

1) get a refund when you arrive at your meal
2) cancel and rebook on the DDP if a new reservation is available
3) I've heard of only one case of a dining line CM being able to switch a prepay reservation to a DDP reservation without booking a whole new reservation
