Questions about Cooling Vests?

So i've never used one before and I'm not really sure how they work. I've always gone to Disney during the cooler times and now I just found out that i'm going at the beginning on next month. I'm super excited but I'm very resilient to heat. I have a brain tumor which causes problems in heat and it ends up being terrible. Anyways, so I heard someone say about these cooling vest. How long do they last? I wont be going back to the resort until the end of the day. Do they work well? Do they look normal? How do they keep cool?
Any advice you have would be useful, thanks in advance.

there are multiple types of cooling vests. The *best* type is active cooling with a pump system. These cost the most though. Basically it pumps ice water around tubes in the vest.

You can also use vest with ice packs, which means changing them when the old ones have 'melted' enough.

others you get soaking wet, and as it evaporates, that is what cools you. you would have to re-wet to 'recharge' and you also are damp due to this.

each ones work best in different enviroments, but i've heard the best about the active cooling/pump type.

Sadly, i've not had the money to buy one, nor can I find the right type of pump to create one.

Hope someone else comes along with more info for you, but figured to share what I knew.

My son has 2 types of cooling vests. The first one is a Stacool vest. It uses icepack that we soak in water to activate then just leave them in the freezer. I packed mine in a cooler bag with his meds that need to stay cool. What I would do is have multiple paks and keep some at the first aid station then change out as needed. They lasted about 4 hours I believe. This one is rather expensive but it has been a tremendous help to our son.

The second one is by SilverEagle Outfitters. It is one that you can keep in a baggie and fill the baggie with water and it activates the vest. This one keeps you damp so my son is not a big fan of it but we keep it with us for emergencies.
