According to wdwinfo.com, child swap works like this:

First, check that it's offered at the theme park attraction. The Disney Cast Member will then instruct you to enter the queue. Once you're at the boarding area, let the Cast Member know that you want to "child swap." They'll show you where to wait while the rest of your party enjoys the ride. Once they get back, you hand the little guy over to them and you get your turn without having to get back on the line.

However, when we went last Dec. it was different. The part of the party without the child had to go through the regular line. Then, they would allow the other part of the party to go through the fast past line. Sometimes, we still had to wait in the fast past line 20-30 minutes. Anyway, according to the above info, EVERYONE waits in line together and then swaps off right after the first riders are off the ride. Does anyone know if they changed to the above or is that info incorrect?

When we were there in March it depended on the ride. Star Wars is the only one they had us go through the line together and then swap. The others we had to send group 1 through and then group 2 had to get in the Fast Pass line which could be quite a wait still.

We were given pre-printed rider-swap fastpasses on thunder mountain railroad last week(but then didn't need to use them because it was walk-on)

That's the only one we did this trip.

We visited WDW in early September and we did numerous baby swap rides at various parks. In all honesty, for us baby swap did not work one time as you have it officially described.

We experienced the procedure as you did...one group stood in the regular ride line without the baby, and the second group was issued swap passes to use the fast pass lane later. Usually to speed things along, we obtained fast passes for group one. Then when we arrived to do fast pass, we asked for a baby swap pass for the second group.

Wow. I didn't know such a thing existed! I have just always come home with the same kid I went down there with. If I had known about this "baby swap" thing, there might have been a few times on this past trip I would have considered "swapping" him. :rotfl:

:rotfl: how about a hubby swap???

We just got back, and the person staying with DS never had to wait in line. We asked the CM at the entrance to the queue- not the boarding area- for a rider swap ticket and they handed us one. Sometimes the person riding was instructed to hold the ticket, sometimes the person waiting was. It was really easy and no hassles at all.

This is how we've always done it, too - never had any issues and always super easy!
