Questions about borrowing points??

I am trying to plan an upcoming Christmas 08 trip. I would have to borrow 09 and possibly some of 2010 points. (I know...I hate this!) My use year is February. If I borrow into 08 and need to cancel...I must use these by January 31, 2009??

What if I get the insurance...does this help??

With a Dec 08 trip, there will be no way you can borrow points from the use year that starts in 2010, you can only borrow from the "next" use year, not two use years away. You can borrow points to be issued Feb 09 for a Dec 08 trip, and yes, if you have to cancel those borrowed points will expire unless used for a trip that ends by January 31, 2009.

Be aware that Christmas time goes fast starting with the opening of the 11 month window. Thus, if you have not made ressies yet, you should attempt to do so immediately.

It sounds like you have a Feburary Use Year. A trip in Dec '08 requires your 2008 points. You can borrow points from your 2009 Use Year. Those points would then be in your 2008 use year and would expire Jan 31, 2009 if not used.

You cannot borrow points from your 2010 Use Year and put them into a 2008 Use Year.
