Questions about booking thru a travel agent and using codes

We currently have 2 rooms at POP, tickets and dining booked thru a local travel agent for Jan 29-Feb 3. If a code becomes available at that time, who do I contact? My travel agent or Disney direct? I don't want to waste any time and risk not getting a room.
I mentioned it do my travel agent once, and he didn't say too much. "Deal with it then if it happens" type of attitude.
Also, I have AAA (didn't book thru a AAA office), should I be getting any discount at all? Maybe on the room? The ta said no, but I'm just double checking.

A good Disney Specialist TA will continually watch for discounts to be released, and will work at getting it applied for you automatically.

But, if you see a discount come out, you should get ahold of your TA immediately and bring it to her attention, just in case she's not watching. It won't do you any good to call Disney directly, since they won't help you with your reservation. You have to go through your TA.

If your reservations are room-only, then your TA can have the AAA discount applied.

To get a AAA discounted package, you would have to go through a AAA agency. But, when the new general public discounts are released, they cannot be added to a AAA package.

Thanks a lot. I'm not sure my ta will be watching for the codes, but I will be. I'm just hoping he is not on vacation when/if I code comes out.

I just wanted to let you know, since you are a AAA member and are not booking directly with Disney anyway, it might be worth it to get a quote from AAA. If you are getting a packages with dining, AAA are the only ones who can get you a discount (unless there is a discount code released through Disney). If there is a discount code that becomes available later on, you can contact your AAA travel agent, and they will apply it for you if it benefits you.
Looking at your numbers, you are going for 5 nights at Pop, and have 2 rooms during value season. AAA gives you 20% discount on room portion at value resorts during value season.
So it looks like if the rack rate for standard room at Pop is $82, over 5 nights with 2 rooms you can save $164.
Just to let you know we are going in December and with this new code that just came out my AAA rate was still better.
