Questions about BLT -- advice needed

Could you clarify? I don't know what the express is -- a bus? Or a special monorail? Also, could you explain about the need for more transferring with the express?

The express monorail runs back and forth between the TTC and the MK. If you take the express from the MK, at the TTC you need to transfer to the Epcot or the resort loop to continue on the monorail.

Bill covered it, but I missed a keyword in that at the MK you could walk to BLT or catch the resort monorail and now you only have one stop. But we are finding the monorail is not always efficient, whichever line you choose. We saw the express monorail (nonstop TTC to MK) stopped just outside the CR for about 45 minutes. BUT last year, we waited almost equally as long for a resort monorail. No guarantees.

BLT far exceeded our expectations. It's still a hotel room with high capacity, of course there is wear and tear, etc. But it was clean and the view (at least ours) was fantastic. The location changed our park strategy. When we stayed at SSR, we were equally willing to go to any park (though it really is an Epcot resort). At BLT, we did an extra evening at MK rather than hike it over to DHS.

We always rent a car.

First, let me say that we love Disney, go often, and are one of those families that are questioned why we don't go other places more often.

That being said, BLT is almost a little "too" convenient. When we returned, my wife first commented that she didn't feel like there was any down time. At SSR there are outdoor walking paths, small pools, and you know you are at Disney, but the parks seem a world away.

At BLT you are really in the middle of the action. You can't go to the restaurants at the Contemporary without seeing the monorail bringing people to and from the parks. You can't be out front of BLT without hearing the train whistle from the Magic Kingdom. You always know you are merely steps away from being in a park, or on a monorail.

Even our day hanging out at the BLT pool there was always the thought that everything was so close, shouldn't we be doing something more than just sitting here?

I will definately go back to BLT, we had a great experience. However, we never really felt that relaxed down time like we do at WL or SSR. Maybe if I lived in New York City, or stayed at BLT often, I would get used to it, but it always felt a little hectic to me compared to some of the other resorts.
