Questions about AP

Hi all!!

I have a couple of quick questions about APs. We will be going to DLR this weekend and I am the only one of our party that has an AP. I would like to use it for discounts at restaurants and shopping, but since this trip is for my birthday, DM is going to be paying for everything on her Disney Visa (yay for Disney Rewards Dollars!). Will I be able to give the CMs my AP and still have my DM pay for the meal with her card?

The other thing, I have a Deluxe AP and it is a blockout day for Saturday. We will be staying at PPH so we have MM but I won't be able to get in without a blockout ticket. How early do the ticket booths open? Can I get a blockout ticket from PPH that morning before we leave? Is Guest Services an option?

I can tell you that they seem to have gotten much more strict regarding the AP discount. Don't be surprised if they don't want to give you the discount if you aren't the one paying. In my own experience, the table service CMs have been the most lax and the counter service CMs seem to be enforcing this rule more. If you want the discount, be prepared to pay with a card in your name or with cash or gift card.

The ticket booths open an hour before the parks I believe, but someone correct me if I am wrong. I am not sure about the PPH desk, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sell blockout tickets. Hopefully someone who knows for sure can tell you.

I think I would ask her to get a card in your name on her account if she wants the reward points. Otherwise you could pay and divi up after the trip. The likelihood is that they will not allow a non-matching named card to be used. Ours were checked every time and the one time I pulled the wrong AP out they made a comment - an easy fix but still checked.

I like ArchOwl's idea about a gift card. Have DM buy a gift card with enough on it to pay for a couple of meals. If it runs out, she can always add more money to it. That way you, the AP holder, can hand the gift card and your AP to the CM at the restaurant. Problem solved.

The last few months I've been told by the cm's in the shops and restaurants that the AP must match the card. I have had a few of them do the discount then split the bill though. I think you need to be prepared to use your card to get the discount.

DM and I are thinking that we just buy a gift card with her Disney Visa so at least she still gets the rewards dollars but I will still be able to get the discounts. Another step but worth it IMO to get the discounts.

ArchOwl, could you clarify for me about the ticket booths opening an hour before the park; does that mean that for MM the booths would open at 6am or would it open at the same time as MM, in this case, 7am? Sorry, but I was a little confused.

Sorry, I was confused earlier and a glance at the MM thread cleared things up. The ticket booths open 30 minutes before MM.
