Has anybody received an email from AmEx saying that they noted your small business purchase, etc.? I think I have received that on the past, but not yet, so I'm freaking out. I'm counting on dinner to be almost free!

I got that email overnight![]()

Well I struck out yesterday. I went to my local beauty supply and I was going to stock up on my hair dye. They only had 1 bottle in stock.
Later I went to my local 99 cent store which was clearly shown on the map as participating-I checked before I bought anything and not only were they not participating in the program but they don't even take AmEx. I checked the website when I got home and they were definitely listed. By then it was too late to buy anything at another location. Well, maybe next year.![]()
Luckily I found another place and did receive the thank you e-mail from Am/Ex - so it went well after all.Has anybody received an email from AmEx saying that they noted your small business purchase, etc.? The websites FAQ says that "supplemental card holders" can register their card number as well. I tried with mine and DH's cards and it worked![]()
They probably didn't sign up. If they accept Amex, they were automatically included in the promotion. We never signed our business up but we were listed (not as a featured merchant). Fortunately for us, no one used an Amex card on Saturday. The fees are almost double for processing them vs. using a Visa or Mastercard.I had a previous appointment set up to have a remote car starter installed and when I saw that the merchant was participating decided to use my Amex there. Went to pay with Amex and was asked "you don't have Visa or Mastercard"; said no and he took the card. I have heard that Amex charges a merchant higher fees than Visa/MC. but if you don't want to participate in Small Business Saturday, why sign up? Worked out find but just found it odd that they didn't want to take Amex.
