We are leaving Friday morning for a long drive down and will be staying at the Animal Kingdom Villas @ jambo house with a studio savanah view :banana: We have never ever been to this resort before and are extremely excited. I would love to know if there is any special I should not miss or that I should ask for as far as rooms go? Also are there any other things we should know that will make our experience any better?

Thanks for all or any input you guys have!! I really appreciate it.

Bomas is one of the restaurants on site. They change their menu through out the week. Our favorite days to eat there are Mondays and Thursdays. It is the same menu. They serve 4 or 5 soups daily (In addition to buffet) but on Mon and Thurs they serve the best ones. You will probably need a reservation if you happen to give it a try.
We take night vision Binoculars. There are published times where you can go meet with Cast members and learn about the animals. Very interesting.

Check out the activities the resort offers, there are some unique things. For example a parade with African musical instruments for the kids, a "Cultural Safari" where CMs from Africa talk about their home country and a Culinary Tour of Boma and Jiko (which is a wonderful way to get a little taste!).

Make sure to talk to the CMs which are at the savanna overlooks, they can tell you a lot about the animals and about their African homecountries.

I loved this when we were there (and will be again in 8 days). It was so much fun watching my son marching around with all the kids.

My DH and I just came back from our vacation and had stayed at AKL for the first time. We also stayed in a studio, Savannah View.

My recommendations would be to tour the entire resort and check out all of the different viewing areas. It looked as if there were many, many activities at the resort throughout the day for both the kids and adults.

Boma's did not have any availability for us but we did try the restaurant over at Kindani lodge. I know there are 2 restaurants over there and for the life of me I can't remember the name (I'm positive anoter dis-poster can help me out here! :goodvibes) of the one we ate at but it had a gorgeous view of the animals. I would highly recommend it!

Even though we had a ways to walk to get to the front of the resort, the benefit was that it was nice and quiet for us.
Hope you have a wonderful time!!:wizard:

There is only one restaurant in Kidani, Sanaa (sp?), which is really good, in my opinion (I actually think the combined Animal Kingdom resorts boast some of the best restaurants on property). There is also a pool bar that food can be ordered from (more standard fare), other then that, that's it at Kidani. The rest of the restaurants (Mara, Boma and Jiko) are at Jambo.

I knew I could count on my fellow "dissers" to fill in the blanks!:goodvibes
Thank you jlewisinsyr, it was indeed Sanaa's we ate at and we loved it! Hopefully one day we can try Boma's!:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! We are so excited! Hoping to have a great time. We definitely will try the night vision binoculars. That sounds so cool. I can't wait to walk around the resort.

We have reservations for Saturday night at Boma. Not sure what to expect but nothing ventured, nothing gained right?

Since we are driving, we won't have to depend on the bus if that becomes an issue.

Have a great week and thanks again everyone!

If you need the blow dryer, it's hanging in the armoire in a little drawstring bag.:thumbsup2
