Hi, all! Now that we've booked our resorts I'm trying to book our flight for February. Wondering if anyone has had any bad experiences with Air Tran out of White Plains? What is the long term parking like at White Plains?
Air Tran's prices are good, but don't seem significantly better than some I've seen for SW. Only problem is that I'm not seeing those SW rates now. Do I wait, or do I book Airtran now? Just FYI, the roudtrip tickets for two come out to around $430, which seems like an incredible deal, but haven't flown much in recent years and I'm just not sure.:confused3

Prices obviously vary from airport to airport, but $215 per person seems pretty high to me (or at least not that great of a deal). We are flying in and out of Kansas City, which may have better fares normally, but we are paying $120 per person round trip.

As far as SW prices coming down, I can tell you that in KC, the prices stayed quite a bit above Airtran. Even with the luggage fees on Airtran, we are coming out way ahead on Airtran over SW.

Like I said, I'm not familiar with White Plains, but I can't help but think you can't get a better deal than that on either SW or Airtran.

We've often flown Air Tran out of White Plains. We've usually gotten fares of $69 (sometimes better) each way to Orlando, so it might be worth your while to wait and watch the prices (unless you're going during a holiday period). Air Tran usually has at least 1 flight each way at $69 and sometimes during sales I've seen all flights for the day at $69.

White Plains is a great airport because its so compact, but parking is expensive. We always have someone drop us off and pick us up. I believe parking is $25+ per day, and the garage is very small. I've seen reports of people not being able to find spots. I understand the Ramada Inn in Armonk will let you park at their lot for $10 a day and shuttle you over to the airport.

You might also want to look at Jet Blue fares. We've been flying them lately because their flight times suit us better, they have more room between rows and they have the in-flight tv's. Their fares are usually a little more than Air Tran, but you can choose your seats without an additional charge so the prices end up about the same.
