Questions about Add-ons

I am in the process of buying a BWV(Dec UY) resale. Passed ROFR this week and should be closing around first week of NOV. I am planning on purchasing an add-on of 25 pts at some point. I am waiting to see what my total expenditures will be for damages to my home sustained in Gustav before deciding when. If all goes well, I will be wanting to add on as soon I am able to to so.

My question is: How long does it take to get into the system to be able to add on? If I close first week in NOV, will I be in the system in time to purchase add-on points before DEC? If I am able to add on in NOV, will I get 2007 points?

Also, has anyone done a BWV (Dec UY) add-on lately? Wondering what my chances are those points being available.

As soon as you are in the system with your current purchase, which usually takes 5 - 10 business days, you may purchase an add-on directly through Disney (25 pt minimum / 50 pt minimum if you want Disney's financing ) - you will be assigned a guide who will handle your add-on and any future add-on(s) you may wish to make. However, you may be waitlisted for points you wish to add on if they are not in Disney's inventory at the moment - if you are waitlisted it sometimes takes just a matter of days for Disney to have them available but it can also sometimes take weeks and there have been times it has taken some even couple of months. Hard to say how long it may take - popular resorts (BCV, BWV) usually take a bit longer than OKW, etc.

When they're available Add-on points are put in your account virtually immediately (ie usually same day).

Yes, if you purchase in November for your add-on and your UY is December then you do get 2007 UY allotment of add-on points; then on December 1st you would receive 2008 UY allotment of add-on points. Keep in mind that December 2007 UY points would expire on Nov 30, 2008 but Disney will allow you to bank these points even though you are past the banking deadline (which is July 31 for December UY).

A couple of follow-up questions (Can you tell I watched the debate last night...LOL)

If everything falls into place and I am able to buy the add-on in Nov., I think I read somewhere that I can bank those 2007 points into 2008. Is this correct? Also, I am assuming I would have to pay M/F's on both the 2007 and 2008 points.

When buying add-on from Disney, can purchase be made over the phone with a credit card?

Yes when buying add-on from Disney they will allow you to bank 2007 UY points into December 2008 UY even though you are past the banking deadline (July 31). Be sure to tell them that you want to do that, although they will probably already "know "that is what you want to do.

If I remember correctly the 2007 UY points should have MFs pro-rated so I think you would only be paying for November MF on the 2007 UY points.
I think you may have to pay all 2008 UY MFs at time of purchase.

Yes! you can call Disney & purchase your add-on over phone and they will be glad to charge your purchase.

Just realized something I should clarify that I said regarding Maintenance Fees :
( I watched tv too late last night also - I did not entirely give correct info in my previous post )

Maintenance Fees are based on the actual calendar year not the Use Year so you will most likely pay
November & December 2008 MFs when doing add-on in November 2008.

I was thinking on actual Use Year span when I posted previously.

For 2009 Maintenance Fees I don't think you will need to pay that until January 2009 ( or monthly if that is how you arranged to pay MFs on your master contract )
