hotel or another disney hotel? I figured out that we can only stay 8 nights at the BCV for our first visit. We really want to be there for 9 nights. So, I was thinking since the 1st night is a waste for us because of flying from the West Coast. I thought, it would be nicer to stay in a hotel. Most flights from the West Coast arrive late around 10 pm through 1 am in Orlando. Anyways, where do you stay? Would it be better to stay at a disney property place so the next morning you can hit the parks? And, does disney transfer bags from a Disney hotel to a DVC resort? Or is it easier to stay at an airport hotel and then, check-in the next day? Would that be a waste of time? I guess, we don't want to waste park time. Or maybe the 1st day should be spent at the pool? Any ideas thoughts?

Thanks,
Tina

stay off site - the Hyatt is in the airport - and the next morning you can check in at BCV at 7:00am (if you want too) in the morning and go to the parks when they open.

since the Hyatt is in the airport you can still use airport transportation - to get to BCV - just the next morning.

there are several airport hotels cheaper than the Hyatt - but I am not sure about the easy of transportation from them.

My choice would be either DVC points (borrowed or rented) or DVC cash (after member discount). My reasoning is that way you are not changing hotels immediately, you just spend the first morning there sleeping in, then settling in and relaxing by the pool. Of course there is always the Hyatt in MCO.

I wonder, is your arrival nite a Fri or Sat? if not, how about trading an expensive Fri or Sat points nite for another weeknite and pay cash for the Fri/Sat?

I've done the DVC Cash, points, or just 1 nite with a good AP code at a value or moderate. However, I always plan to stay on site the first nite. And yes, they do transfer your luggage from resorts to DVC(or vice-versa). That way, the first morning I just drop my luggage off at Bell Services on my way to the bus stop, then when I'm done at whichever park I'm at, I grab the bus to the DVC resort I'm headed for and check in there. It's always very easy for me.

Under those circumstances, I would probably stay in a hotel at the airport that night, and head over to check into DVC the next morning. Because your room will not be ready until later, I would make that a park day, and do the grocery shopping late afternoon after receiving your room.

Actually, I am planning on arriving on a Monday night and I am borrowing so many points that I only have enough for a 8 night stay. We are planning on staying in a 2 bedroom. How much do the 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom & studios rent for with the discount?

Thanks for the advice....

Thanks for the info on the lugguge transfer.

Am I missing something? We have a limited point budget to work with and it appears weekend cash price is less than rental points. For example 2br value $545*75%+11%=$453. This is $7.56 per point on a weekend. I guess it comes out to $11 per point if you go with a studio. Seems like cash makes sense for a 2br.

We fly from Colorado and always get in late. We spend the first night at the airport (usually a Friday) then check in early Saturday morning. This has worked great for us and we don't use the expensive weekend points!

In this case, I recommend getting the Monday on points, and getting the Friday nite for Cash (less discount, plus tax). ::yes::

So for an extra $453, give or take, you get to keep the same room and just spend your vacation on vacation, rather than on packing and unpacking. My guess is, you would have to get at least two hotel rooms at the Hyatt (or wherever), which starts to get into real money, so the cost differential is fairly minimal. An added advantage is that at 1 or 2 in the morning, your room will already be ready, and you won't have to waiting for my room :hyper: game.
