Hi!

Relatively new DVC member, and I am intersted in renting my BLT points for the first time. I am NOT soliciting here. I am looking for info on how to do it, safeguards for me and the person who rents, etc. Is standard practice 50% when I call to reserve and get a confirmation and then 50% when the renter gets the documents in hand.

Is it better to sell all the points at once? Does DVC limit the number of ressies I can make for others?

How do you determine price per point....looked on the trade boards and lots of different prices $10-$13....would prefer not to use a service. I do not mind calling and making plans for the other family.

LOTS of questions!!! Want to make sure I can make magic for another family...without stress to them or me!!

Thanks for any assisitance!

You might want to begin by reviewing the **How to use this Board** thread at the top of the Rent/Trade Board. That thread (and the links to other threads in the thread) have a lot of information valuable to both members and potential renters.

Above all, be sure to have policies and terms that you (as the renting member) are comfortable using. (We had a member a number of years ago who made a rental reservation within 30 days of arrival with the promise of payment by the renter right up to arrival day - the member never canceled the reservation and lost his points altogether.)

Good luck! :)

You'll be changing that attitude quickly once someone starts "shopping you" and asking if they can pay $5 a point instead of what you are asking. Or asking if you have expiring points. Lots of uneducated non-members out there.

From my (limited) experience, it's best to try to work with as few reservations as possible. You might do that by having a higher price per point for smaller reservations.

You do want a significant amount of the money as soon as you are able to provide a confirmation number. The rest you will want at least 60 days before the reservation, so that if the payment is late, there's time for follow up before the points would go into holding.

AND, I'd suggest only making reservations early in your UY, so that you can bank points with no problems.

I prefer to find another member who will take a transfer when I have extra points. One transaction, and then you're done.
