We purchased the dining plan and wanted to know if our DS (he's 8) can order from the adult menu if we pay the difference in price? We have ADR's at Chefs de France and the children's menu only has 2 items. Thanks

To have a child (under 10) qualify for the adult plan, you must register this child as an "adult" (10+). This means that the child will also require adult tickets along with his adult dining plan. You are allowed to do this though, so long as you pay the difference in both dining plan as well as ticket costs (note, for a free dining reservation, since the dining plan is free you only have to pay the difference for the tickets).

I "upgraded" Alison to 10 on our last trip. It gave her the flexibility to choose from the entire menu.

You can't just pay the price difference at a single restaurant though, but you can pay out of pocket for just the child's order. That might come in handy if you have more ADRs than will be covered by the dining plan.

But if they are staying at a value resort with Free Dining, then they would have to pay the difference between the QSDP and the DDP which is about $11 per night.

No, it's not permitted to use a child credit for an adult meal and pay the difference. Children's credits can be used only for children's menu meals.

You could always book another restaurant and pay OOP for Chefs de France and then he could order whatever he wants. Or have one of the adults switch meals with him.

You'd have to upgrade the child to adult by registering him as 10 and buying him an adult ticket, but then he'd get adult credits for all meals.

Thank you for all of the responses. I think we'll order him one of the kid's meals and let him sample off of mommy and daddy's plates at Chefs de France.

I have another semi-related question: Is there a charge at any of the character buffets/meals for an 18 month old that is not on the DDP due to age? I'm specifically interested in Chef Mickey Dinner, Crystal Palace Dinner, Hollywood and Vine Lunch and Ohana Breakfast?

Thanks in advance

No, children under 3 eat free at the buffets and family style meals.

I believe there was one poster (I don't think anyone else has had this happen) that was charged as they got their child a plate from the buffet. They are free to eat from your plate, however that server must have gone to the extreme. I believe most people get their child a plate and don't expect them to eat off the table or be fed from the parent's plate.
