We're doing DHS in the afternoon on arrival day. The park closes at 7 so I'm wondering if we should do dinner there or wait until the park closes and go somewhere else?

I'm going with a first timer so I want to make sure we hit up some good spots that will make her love Disney like I do!

Please let me know your ideas or suggestions. Right now I'm thinking of heading to DTD and eating at Raglan Road.

But we will most likely have Park Hoppers so we could also make use of those. So far we're eating at Crystal Palace breakfast, Chefs de France lunch, and Ohana dinner.

TIA:goodvibes

I would probably stay at DHS until closing and then go to DTD for dinner like you said-- then you can stay at DTD and walk around/look at the shops a little before heading back to the hotel.

DHS is not well known for the food! It is the one park almost everyone will agree needs help with both TS and CS food.

I would pick The Wave at the Contemporary, or something at EPCOT or DTD. If you must pick a place in DHS, we did enjoy Sci-Fi, we just ordered the wrong thing (Steak) I forgot about all the warnings when we got there and ordered!

I would stay at DHS until closing and then head to Raglan Road. We loved it there. It is a beautiful restaurant and our service was perfect. The food was very good. We had a late (8:30) ADR in order to enjoy the entertainment that starts at 9. The band and the Irish Step Dancer were great and we had a really fun evening, lingering over adult beverages enjoying the entertainment.
Have a Great Trip

Agreed ... get in as much park time as you can, then head for DTD and Raglan Road.

If you want to "save" Raglan Road for later in the week, you might consider hopping a boat over to Boardwalk and eat in the Epcot Resorts area. Flying Fish is the best in the neighborhood, albeit pricy ... we enjoy Spoodles. And for a "night out," check out Jellyrolls! Fun!

ETA: You might try to make reservations at a studios spot right at 7, since restaurants take reservations right up until park closing. I'd choose 50's PT, just because its a classic Disneyfied experience.

Sci Fi and 50's Prime Time are awesome, would you be able to get a ressie there? If not I would head over to DTD for dinner instead.

50's Prime Time is pretty good and the drinks are fabulous! But...Raglan Road is good too. I would opt for the 50's PT myself, and then go to DTD and hang out. Or even go and hang out at the pool, or whichever park has EMH that day.

As long as you don't have little ones that would need to retire after a long day of traveling, then leave DHS to go to MK or Epcot for dinner and fireworks.pixiedust: DTD is also an option for dinner if you don't care about fireworks.

EPCOT has EMH that night until midnight so maybe we could go there. I loved Raglan Road and I think my friend would, too.

It's SOOO soon and Memorial Day weekend so a lot of things will be filled up and I probably won't even have a choice! LOL!

Are restaurants open during EMH?

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

Depending on your friend's sense of humor, I'd go for 50s Prime Time, just because it is unusual and fun and you aren't rushing when the park closes to get to DTD and a reservation. (If it helps, I was lukewarm on WDW during my first trip and dining was a key part of opening my eyes to the virtues of a Disney vacation.) You are taking the right strategy!

I agree. When I first tried 50's Primetime and Sci-Fi I really loved the theming. That was really the fun of it - I didn't know what to expect and I was awed. Now, I would skip them because I've been countless times - but a first-timer might really enjoy it...and it would be nice to not have to rush around.:thumbsup2

Also, would you be considering the fantastic Fantasmic? That would really change your plans.

BTW, I hate to say it - and I feel like we are getting to be old farts - but on arrival day I think I'd be too beat to do a park and DTD...:upsidedow
If you are young :rolleyes1 (and/or not worn down by little children...) then Raglan Road or maybe even 'Ohana could be fun. I also wanted to add that first-timers aren't always aware of how BIG the parks are and how much running around you'll do. Keep that in mind if you do EMH at Epcot and then want to get an early start the next day.

I LOVE Prime Time 50's but with such an early evening - I'd either eat then park hop or leave for DTD or the Boardwalk (don't forget Spoodles!)

The schedule doesn't have Fantasmic on it for our arrival day :(

I like everyone's suggestions - thank you!

The restaurants are open until the normal park closing times at EMH, depending on the park of course. I know Epcot's last seating is around 9ish...so you would have plenty of time to get there from DHS if you take the boat through the Boardwalk.

Heck...go to Epcot...have a great dinner at either Tokyo Dining (if you like sushi), or even Rose and Crown (you know how much I love that one!)

Yeah I figure it might be nice to make use of our park hoppers and go to EPCOT. And yeah I know how much you love Rose & Crown and you know how much I love Rose & Crown's cute bartender :lmao:
