Do you think some teens give others a bad name, I am a regular on the Chats and lately someone has been coming to the chats being obnoxious and just making me sad that they are making us look bad. I just want to know your opinion.
Of course. There are so many teens who act stupid, brag about drugs/alcohol, are so involved in promiscuity that sometimes I wonder if there is anybody in the state that they havent slept with, slack off in school, disrespect elders, have no manners, rebel against everything, and refuse to make wise decisions. And it gives every other teen a horrible reputation. I've found that you really have to show adults that you are mature before they will respect your opinion now.
Well I am a shy, but still outgoing 15 year old. I know when to stop, other teens don't! I think that's mainly what annoys me. I live in a very small southern town, and another thing that give teens around here a bad name is going out to "backroads" and drinking. Some of my really good friends do that and I hate being judged by that, just because I'm friends with them. I don't do it, so why should I be the one getting judged because of it. My bestfriend is probably the craziest girl you will ever meet, we are totally opposite in every way possible. But I've loosened up a lot since we met a couple years back. That can be a good thing, sometimes.. not so much. We're fifteen; we act crazy in public, and don't really care what others think. Hey, you can only be young once. But we do know when enough is enough!
ETA: And i've noticed around here.. we're not getting judged by adults, more of older teens.
Ugg, I hate that.
Some of my friends can be so rude in public, or they are really rude to teachers. They cease to realise these people are human and have feelings too.
When my friends act all obnoxious or disrespectful for people around us, I find it hard to speak up. However, I did today and I told them basically to shutup, and now a couple of them aren't talking to me :/
Yes, it sucks that people give 'teens' a bad name, but seriously, I probably thought the same of 'pre-teens' when I was a pre-teen, and I am so glad noone cared about my opinion when I was 12ish, because quite frankly, I was an idiot.
Oh yeah, I'm definitely the "mom" in my group of friends. I'm always saying "HUSH YOU! We're at the movies!" or "XYZ don't stand there, you're going to fall!" "or "Em, eat your veggies! They're good for you!".
Not only I don't want them doing bad things in public because it embarasses me, it gives them a bad rep. "Oh those stupid teens again!"

I am exactly the same! I can be such a fun-killer sometimes! My biggest one is at the movies, we'll be sitting at the start, in the commericals and previews beforehand and I will be going crazy at my friends for talking. I just feel that if someone else was talking, I'd be annoying too!
ooo, yes, I am definately the mother of my group too!

Oh my goodness I know! Just because some of them have wild parties doesnt mean that every student there is a drunken fool. And dont you hate the old "Well my friend had a friend who knew a girl who's boyfriend used to know this guy who dated this girl whos friend knew this guy who knew this girl who dated this guy who knew this other guy who dated this girl who was friends with a girl who went to that college for one semester and she said that it was a big party school." I mean, what the heck?!? How reliable was your source again?
