we are buying a dvc and should close on or about 7/15/08
now, before all of dvc thing happened i did book free dining promo for this year in late august.
we still will be doing the free dining because i really would love to use
my points for next years vacation.

now for my question (s):

since i am an official dvc member (as of the end of July), can i take advantage of all its benefits even though i am at a regular dw hotel during the free dining?? I am also interested in getting an dvc ap card for my family so i can use it for this coming august trip the one with free dining.

if i am allowed to get my dvc ap card this august do you receive a dvc membership card to hand in to get the discount for the ap??

Some benefits - such as pool hopping - can only be used when staying at a DVC resort on points. Others - such as the AP discount - can be used anytime.

pool hopping isn't for me i just want to get my dvc ap cards and I will be happy

If you don't get your member card by the time of your trip, you can get a temporary one at the sales center at SSR.

As soon as you have your temp membership number, you can call MS and order your AP. It will not activate untl the first time you use it. Since you won't be staying at a DVC resort, you'll have to work out with MS where you will pick up your AP. As I understand it, this would normally be at your resort (DVC).

AP's cannot be picked up at resorts. You need to go to a park ticket window or guest services, or guest services at Downtown Disney. I believe you will need to have your member card when you pick it up. You can also just wait and purchase it when you get there, but again you need the card.
