Okay...we're going for the first time in June. Kind of trying to get the hang of the system. So you have a park pass that you keep with you at all times, right? Can you charge purchases to your room using this card? Do the food vendors let you charge to your room using this card?

Is this what most people do?

You can charge using your room card if you give them a credit card number at check -in. You can have your park passes put right on your room key. I believe almost eevery vendor allows you to use key card when you ahve the credit card number attached. (This is all if you are a Disney Resort Guest)

Ditto what CharityLynn said except I'm not sure if the "push cart" type vendors take cards. I was thinking they only took cash but I could be wrong. I would always carry a little bit of cash just in case.

All of them take cards now because of the dining plan. Sometimes, though their little machine can break or get the paper jammed so I always have some cash on hand just in case.

Be careful to keep the room cards/park passes away from your cell phone. the phone "de-magnitizes" the cards and you cannot use them to get into the park. you must then, go to guest services and have them re-issue a new pass. we learned this from experience, and it is no fun standing in line with 2 fussy children!!
