Does anyone think that the 11 month vs 7 month window for resort reservations is a little over done. For the most part if you plan 6 to 7 months in advance do you usually get what you want or what? What has been the experience of the veterans in the group who haved extensive experience with using the 7 month window , please let us know.

Thanks,

The newbie in town at BCV:smooth:

I can't vote. I bought where I wanted to stay, so I always book my home resort. I am sure at some point in the future I would be eligible!
Anyway, it likely depends on which resort, and at what time of year (BWV and BCV at F&W, VWL X-Mas ect...)....

So far,four-for-four. But,I now own at the three resorts I want to stay at so with the exception of the occassional VB stay,I probably won't need the 7 month window.

7 for 7 for us. We own at OKW and HH, but have stayed twice each at VB, BCV and BWV plus once at VWL. Each time there was no problem getting the reservation. Once of the BWV stays came only 2 weeks ahead of time- a real short notice trip in early December.

I'm 3 for 3. Own at VB and have stayed at BCV once and will be twice at VWL in just a couple of weeks. The whole reservation process all three times was 10 minutes or less, never waitlisted. We've been in Oct. twice and will go in May this trip. I understand the need to make reservations earlier for the busier times of the year. For us, it has worked great!

Got to love that DVC :p :p :p :p :p

You need another answer for your pole....No, I had to go with another resort, because my home resort was booked too! That's what I get for waiting! :(

We were waitlisted in June for standard view at BWV 1 bdrm. It came thru early this month!!

We got HH for March at the 7 month window, but had to cancel.

We got Vero Beach for June at the 7 month window

We have BWV as our home resort-once we had to stay at OKW because BWV was booked(1 month out), once I waitlisted and got BCV.
99% of the time I book at the 11 month window because we always know when we are going on vacation, and I like the standard view.

I usually book Home Resort at 11 months, then at 7 months switch to OKW!

We have also booked at less than 7 months and stayed at all of the resorts that we have wanted to. I am not that picky-as long as it is a DVC resort-I'm happy!

We have never had a problem with as little as 45 days notice, getting a villa. We booked our summer trip only last month, including a stay at VB.. We have never tried for the most crowded times though, I do have to say that.

We've always found a non-home resort at 7 months or less, but then we've always been at OKW - which is pretty forgiving when it comes to last-minute bookings!

We've travelled in May, October and December. One May trip we booked OKW 1-bedroom only two months in advance. The December trip did have a waitlist for a BWV 2-bedroom come through just a few weeks before arrival - but that was more of an 'if we can get it that would be fun for a change' kind of booking.

All that said, we are now agonizing over BWV v. BCV for an add-on. BWV would be nice to get the 11-month window and use it to book Std rooms and stretch the points. BCV would be nice to get the 11-month window and use it to stay at BCV and use SAB. Can't decide which is more important to us! LOL.

I have booked at 7 months or less 4 times and have been successful at each. Three times at OKW and once at VWL.

I'm 2 for 2 on 7 month window reservations. Got exactly what I wanted both times (summer bookings).

I'm two out of three. Once waitlisted for Boardwalk standard view and got it (wait listed at 7 month window), waitlisted at Beach Club (five months out and got it) and never got the Hilton Head waitlist for Thanksgiving! I usually book our favorite, VWL, at 10 months out, so I don't have to worry about competing at the 7 month window.

I think it depends on what time of year you're going. The 11-month window will probably be really important for special times of the year for the resorts close to the parks (like Christmas - Mickey's Merry Christmas party, Food and Wine fest at Epcot in October, flower show in May at Epcot, etc.). Saratoga will be a large resort and will add a large amount of new members. That booking window may become even more important as time goes on.

I have always gotten what I want in terms of booking, sometimes after a little bit of time on the waitlist, but nonetheless, I have always gotten it. We do travel at somewhat slower times of the year, so maybe that's why.

I like my home resort, so for me it's never a problem to stay there. What I usually do is book a unit at my home resort at the 11 month window and then waitlist myself at the 7 month window.
