My DD is leaving for London in 3 weeks and will be in England/Scotland/Wales for 18 days. She's going with her Aunt and Uncle and she's never been over seas before. My question is What kind of clothes should she pack. They will be able to do laundry, since they are staying with friends while visiting. Here in Kansas it's very warm/hot in June and we have been wearing shorts and t-shirts for the past month or so. Does she need a raincoat, jacket, sweater??? She's 13 and is at that age where she knows everthing and doesn't like being told what to wear. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

The long range forecast is predicting warm sunny weather (with a little rain) for most of England during the time your DD will be there, with temps climbing to high 70s in June. In Scotland, the weather is predicted to be a little cooler than England with a little bit more rain but June is usually one of our best months for weather.

I would suggest she takes shorts and tees as well as a sweatshirt and jeans for cooler days. We rarely get the drenching pouring rain that you do so a lightweight jacket and an umbrella will do to cope with the rain.

At that time of the year, the locals tend not to wear coats but carry small umbrellas in bags (you can buy really tiny telescopic ones here).

Scotland can be a little windier but rarely cold at that time of year (although perhaps you might think so!). One of those lightweight hooded zip up jackets are a good bet for most occasions.

I hope that your DD has a lovely time!

Jackie :)
