Question regarding Waitlist, have never done, Thank You!

Hi.
I want to book VGF for September for a week, Saturday-Saturday (September 8-15), standard studio.
Tuesday, September 11 is not available, but the days before/after are available.
I will be borrowing all the points for this reservation.
How do I make the reservation next month (if the one day is still not available).
Book for arriving September 8-departing September 11?
Then
Book for arriving September 12-departing September 15?
Waitlist September 11?
Do all of the steps above (three steps)?

I am fairly confident (would you be?) that Tuesday, September 11 will show up and if not, I guess I'll move to a one bedroom at VGF or somewhere else but hoping to save points and do the studio, we don't need the living room/kitchen.

Is above correct?

Then, if I get the one day by stalking/wait list coming through, I book it immediately and then I call MS to make sure the reservation is as one not three separate? Is this correct too?

I have never done a waitlist before so never really had to read up on them.
