Question regarding points transfer

I'm looking to finalize a points transfer from another member to my DVC account. Is this done by a 3-way call with MS or how is this normally done? I don't want to give member all the $ until I get a confirmation # or info from MS just to protect myself.

Has anyone done a transfer before and if so how did you do it?

I checked references until I was comfortable, paid 100% up front, other member did the transfer using my name, number, and city where I lived. Then I called MS to confirm the points were there. If you do use a 3-way call, make sure you don't mention that $ is changing hands -- it's against the rules.

I've done it both ways - paying up front, waiting until they say its complete, then calling MS myself to confirm, as well as a 3-way call. The 1st option feels more risky, but I only transfer from people I know or strangers with good feedback & references. If you're not comfortable not being involved in the transfer insist on a 3-way call.
