Question regarding pin code versus other deals

What is better - getting a pin code emailed to you or using one of Disney's advertised deals (like up to 30% off dlx. resort during spring, etc.)?? Just hoping we can swing Disney again and stay where we want, a pin code or a deal of some sort would work.

How do pin codes really work? How do you get them emailed to you - luck or do I need to sign up for something and it is off your entire ressie or just your room?

ok, sorry about the post...I read a little on the FAQs and understand a bit now about the codes.....just not sure how to go about getting the best deal. Any advice on how to get the max off the ressie would be appreciated. TIA!

Yeah I'm still waiting for a PIN code. No trip for me in 2011 without one.

I've called (twice) and gone on the website to save future vacations at least 3 times. The only thing I haven't done is signed up a new email address. I've got too many already to keep up with.

I say, take what you can get. You never know what may be coming so you might as well lock in the best deal they have for your situation at the time (before it expires). The good thing is you can always switch if something better comes along.

Thanks for your post. You're right, just take what you can get. I hope you get a code though!!!! I'm still crossing my fingers for my fam and I, we have to just wait and see what we can $$. So far, I'm still "tentatively planning" for June. I just see those Disney commercials (the ones where they surprise their kids at Christmas is my fav!) replay through my mind and seeing the joy on my DDs face!! Here's to wish'n and hope'n!

In November 2009, we got the great pin that covered the whole year. It was 40% off deluxes. By that time, we had booked and paid for a buy4/get3 free offer at Boardwalk in December.

Then a gp code came out for the summer and was able to be booked online, so I used the GP code for June. Then in June I booked a bounceback for December at 45%, rather than use the 40% pin.

So I got a great code, went 3 times and NEVER used the pin. I worried that Disney would never send me another pin. Well, so far that's been true. Haven't gotten one yet, even though it seems like there's been a nice flurry of them lately.

I think this year has been different so it would be hard to decide which would be better, but I think the pin rates for some people have been MUCh better than the GP codes, like some folks have gotten 35% off mods, or 40% off everything, even a value.
