If we have an ADR for a restaurant that has some outdoor tables but for some reason is not seating there, what is recent experience regarding cancelling and the $10 fee pp?

we are focused on only eating outside because of my unvax’d daughter- I know last year, it sounded like they tried to accommodate you outside if you were willing to wait- or perhaps not charge you the $10 fee pp if they could not accommodate you- but not sure what the current climate is with that….

appreciate your input!!

If you don’t mind me asking-which restaurant?

Things are constantly changing (seriously so much came back or changed or went away during our trip we lost track!) so I would definitely call Disney as well and then make the call to cancel or not.

Hmmm, good idea! Or maybe I can even try Chat. We were thinking about Tony’s in MK (I know, I know) and also Via Napoli.

Via Napoli I don’t think has outdoor seating (their hours are also limited due to not having the international CMs back yet.). I would definitely call Disney and ask about Tony’s (also I’ve never tried it so I can’t knock it!)
I do know Homecomin and Raglan Road in Disney Springs have outside seating, as does Trattoria al Forno and Big River at the Boardwalk.

if I'm reading this correctly you want to know if you can walk away from your reservation without penalty if they are unable to fill your request for outdoor dining?

I'm pretty sure each restaurant would be making their own decision. I would definitely try to check ahead of time before trying to report for that reservation.

Via Napoli does have very limited outdoor seating, and it's not always offered (it isn't covered, so weather could be a determining factor)

Thanks! I forgot about Raglan Rd! Great idea!

Good thought. The couple of ADRs we have are for later in the trip, so we can swing by early in the trip to see what they say. Appreciate that input!!

The outdoor seating at raglan road, I believe, does not take reservations but is a first come basis. It’s the small garden area right in front. You can make reservations for raglan road on open table which eliminates the fee problem, although they might require a credit card from time to time. The boathouse has outdoor dining as does Frontera conchina.

So helpful! Thank you so much.

Almost all Disney Springs restaurants offer outdoor seating, but in park and resort restaurants are few and far between. With DS spots, we've never had a problem requesting and waiting for an outdoor table.

The ones in park are harder. I've yet to see Via Napoli with outdoor seating, but maybe they remove the covering in nicer weather? Tony's does seat outdoors in cooler temps and you can just wait for a table out there.

I think if you kindly told the host stand that you were not comfortable being seated indoors and would like to cancel your reservation, they would be able to mark you as "arrived."

A couple years ago, the third row in our SciFi car (so we could hear every word) inquired about a menu item not listed. The waiter said it had been removed and was not available. They had come just for that item and didn't want to stay but asked about the no-show fee. The waiter said "but that's a no show fee and you came! You won't be charged anything for leaving without ordering" - I tend to think most restaurants will follow the same line of thinking.

(calling or chatting with Disney takes hours right now so definitely don't rely on that... hopefully wait times will go back to normal soon)

That is awesome information, thank you so much for your comment :)

This!

Also, just a comment on Tony's -- it really is not as bad as people make it out to be. They've gotten a new chef and things have vastly improved IMO. Order the fried mozzarella, you won't be sorry ;)
