Hi.
My son and his gf are staying in a one bedroom at BLT for three nights prior to a cruise.

My son, although has been many, many times with me has no idea what's going on with MDE, tickets etc. and
his gf is even more clueless (she has been once many, many years ago). They are doing two parks, MK and Epcot.

Do you think it would be easier if I added my name to the ressie and then was able to book their dining and and LL and ILLs?
VQs?

I'm thinking there is nothing that would mess up their ressie if I was a no show. Am I forgetting anything?

Thank you very much!

No drawback to being on the reservation as long as there is no dining plan.

Probcbly a lot easier!!

Why does your name need to be on the resort reservation? You can book ADRs, LLs and VQs for them whether you’re staying in their room or not. If he has his own MDE account, you can log into it. If he and his GF don’t have their own MDE and are on your F&F list, you can still book everything through your MDE. If MDE won’t let you book ADRs in his name, he simply gives your name to the restaurant when he checks in.

There are many reports of family members booking VQ and LL from home for people who are en route to or at WDW. And a resort reservation is not required for booking ADRs.

Thank you. I wasn't aware I could do these things for them if not on their ressie.
No, they don't have MDE although I did ask his gf to download it, but don't think that happened.
I will book their ADRs. Although I added myself to the DVC part of their ressie, when I go onto MDE I only see their names under the booking not mine. I did it yesterday so I gave it a day to catch up but wonder why
I'm still not showing, which would be a real PITA if I had to include myself for LL or VQs.
Thank you for this information, I wasn't aware.

Guests' names don't always automatically transfer from the DVC site to MDE. If you haven't done online checkin yet, doing it will probably add your name to the guest list. If you have done online checkin, you can update it. Or you can sign out of MDE and log back in, and that should work.

FYI, having your name on the resort reservation won't automatically include you when booking LLs or VQs. You'll have to check each of their names each time you book one of those, and I'm pretty sure it will only show names of people who have valid tickets for that day and park, which would not include you!

Thank you. I have an AP and I wont have park ressie so thats good. Maybe Ill take my name off if I can do all this without being on the ressie. Who wants to check in and be asked if your mom is showing up on a couple only trip 🤣

The only reason I could think of for leaving your name on the reservation would be to open up the 60+length of stay window for booking ADRs, since you’ll be doing that from your MDE.

And if you do online checkin for them, they won’t have to stop at the front desk unless they want to.

Why don’t you set up MDE for your son, and friend, link the tickets and then manage ADRs, VQ etc for him?

One important question is have they asked you to do this? Maybe they'd rather just wing it. Maybe trying to do it themselves will help them know where they went wrong for the future. Maybe they'll realise just how much they need your help and ask you to do it after the first day!

As they're there on their own, I assume that they are adults? I can appreciate that it would be easier for you to just do it rather than watching them struggle, but often it's the best way to learn.

Even if they have asked you to do it all for them I would still be tempted to just give them some pointers, then keep an eye to check it's all going ok. You'll know about their dining well in advance so you'd be able to ask if they got what they wanted, and if they don't get all of the LLs they want on the day I'm sure they'll still find something fun to do! :)

I was going to ask the same question, but was trying not to sound rude (you didn't). From the original post, the son and GF are staying for three nights, then heading on a cruise, so I assumed they were adults.

Thank you. Yes, this helped since they wanted me to book nice restaurants and I needed the advantage of 60+

Yes, I can do this too but why bother if I'm still doing it LOL

Thank you. You both do not sound rude. I get it.
Yes, they asked me to book and take care of it, they don't have any idea and want it booked and done with their only requests for park tickets and two nice restaurants.

I was able to modify today the BLT 3 nights to GFVs so I'm happy about that (they will be too) but when I told them I booked CG for the fireworks my son's GF was really happy and asked if it was in Epcot, so that's what I'm working with LOL (I did ask them if they wanted their dinner inside or outside the parks, they said outside since they will go back to room, relax and go to dinner). If they decide to download and do themselves, great, but they don't seem to be interested in the planning, just the doing LOL I'm happy I can help :)

Oh yes indeed, they are very lucky that you're doing all this for them! Including the move to VGF!

Thank you. Yes, I wanted her first time staying onsite (she has been once before a very long time ago off site) to be the best I could do and happy I was able to get GFVs.
Because, they can then access the account too, without any risk of messing up any separate plans you may have for future trips.
Thank you. I will ask and see if the gf is remotely interested but she told me last week or so that my son would have to lead her because although she loves Disney knows nothing. So, this is what I'm working with since my ds isn't a planner for Disney.
