Interested in opening this credit card for the great welcome bonus ($400 statement credit for $1,000 in purchases in 3 months).

Can the statement credit be used for anything, or does it have to be Disney related? I have no future plans to go the WDW, but am interested in the welcome bonus.

I don't intend to even use this card once I satisfy the purchase requirement.

Are you sure? According to the Chase website:
$400 Statement Credit
Offers may vary and may not be available through all application methods when applying for the Disney Visa Credit Cards. In some instances, an application may require additional time to process. To qualify and receive your $400 statement credit, you must make Purchases totaling $1,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. (“Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. After qualifying, please allow up to 8 weeks for your credit to appear in your statement.

It’s a statement credit against whatever balance you have on the card. You are think of Rewards Points.
That would be terrific! Do you have personal experience with this?

I do have an upcoming flight to book....it's just not Disney related.

I did read this as well, but also saw about the Reward Points. Upon further reading, it looks like Reward Points can be used as a statement credit to offset airfare purchase.
