Question regarding code word/password for the kids' clubs

I registered the my kids online for our upcoming cruise. I had to give a code word or password. How is this used? Is this something that the kids have to remember or just the adults picking them up? I picked a word that means absolutely nothing to my kids. Now I'm wondering if it's something they need to remember.

Thank you.

No, the kids do not need to know the password. It is for you and anyone that you are authorizing to sign your kids out of the kids lcub.

As a security measure, you will be asked the code word each time you pick up your kids. You can share the code word with others that are authorized to pick up your kids - such as grandparents or friends traveling with you so they can also pick up the kids. No need for the kids to know if and actually they probably shouldn't.

It's best your kids don't know the password, it will prevent them from saying it at the checkout, before you have a chance. If your child would happen to say the password, the CM is obligated to ask you a few personal questions.

Another tip for all parents, don't use the obvious passwords like 'Mickey,' The password can consist of letters or numbers or a combination of both.

Have a great cruise

Thank you for your help. I'll be sure not to mention the password to the kids.

Luckysas, I just noticed that you are new to the DISBoards. Welcome. Is Mickey the most common password you see in the clubs?

Thanks Carrie! I really enjoy the Disboards. I'm actually rejoining the Magic in 3 weeks. I was a CM on the Magic from 2000 till end 2002. I'm looking forward to going back. The Dis is a good way for me to see what the guest think of the service onboard, what they like and don't like in the kids' clubs.

I love making kids laugh!

I hope you and your family will enjoy the cruise, how old are your kids?

I used to work with the 5-7 group, but at the moment I haven't been assigned to an age-group yet.

You just might meet my kids on the 9/3 cruise.
I'll have one in the 10-12's and the other is going into the 5-7's or the 8-9's (I haven't decided if I want to bump him up yet)

Yeah I will definately be onboard by then. I bet you are counting the days till you cruise!

Luckysas, I wish you were starting back next week. It would be great to meet you. My DD is 7 and DS is 4.

Carrie

Yeah I wish I could go back earlier. I'm looking forward to being back on the Magic. I'm sure your kids will have a blast!

Luckysas you are lucky to be working on such a great ship. I'm sure you had my DD in the club back in 2/00 and 3/01. We will be back on 8/6/05 and can't wait. DD will be with the 10-12 yo this time.
You will have to let us know which group you are working with this time.

I might have met your DD in 3/01 depending on what date you were cruising. I won't know what age-group I will be in till I get on the ship, but I will try to visit the boards sometimes during my time-off.

We used a former pet's name - the cat passed away when the kids were very young, but his name has been a password forever. He had a simple name - so it wasn't one that the CMs had a hard time understanding - but it was an unusual enough word to be unique.

Its something worth discussing before you cruise so you don't tie up the line trying to come up with a password - which can be harder than it sounds.

I will also be returning to the ship soon. I worked on the disney wonder April 2002-November 2003. I worked with the 3-4's and 5-7's. I have yet to be assigned an age group. I hope to work with the older kids this time around.

Just to reassure everyone, before the guest arrive, actually while you are having your safety drill, we have a staff meeting letting all counselors know if there are children with peanut allergies, severe ones, just so we don't eat these things in our cabins before coming to work. We also go over any special needs or kids having birthdays. This way we are prepared for the upcoming cruise.

If kids seem a bit unsure about coming to the club or lab, have them tour the area when they get on the ship. Also that first night is sort of an introduction to the program, where they can meet the counselors and other friends. Usually it's hard on the shorter crusies because just as they start to feel comfortable, it's time to leave. But all the counselors are very well trained and would be happy to help any child. I know there were several children that were my buddy for the cruise, it made them feel comfortable when they came in, I would make them my special helper. I will never forget these two twin boys that were from New Jersey, they came at christmas time and I was missing my family. They didn't want to say and I talked them into staying and helping me, they had a blast and later sent me a christmas card with pictures, it's something I will cherish for years to come.

That's exactly why I am going back, for those experiences. You can't get it anywhere else.

Shoevg--Will you be back on the Wonder or on the Magic?

We'll be on the Magic in July and would love to meet CMs that have been on the boards. We're traveling with a 5 yo and 9-10-11 yo boys, so chances are we'll run into you or Luckysas in the kids' clubs. We'll look for you. Yellow shirt. Got it! ;)

I never thought about whether or not Lara (DD8) should know the password for the Kids' Club. Thanks for asking this!

We'll be on the August Repo cruise - with 14 days, my daughter will have LOTS of time to feel comfortable in the Lab! :rotfl2:
