Question regarding AP and AP rates

When reserving a room at an AP rate, do you have to have the AP in your hand at that time, or only upon check-in? We have decided to get APs and want to go in June. The person DH spoke with at disney gave him the price of the all stars at the AP rate. So, can we reserve it now, and then get our APs?

Yes, you only need to have your AP at check in.

I called the resort direct and told them I would be checking in very late and wouldn't have my AP pass - I just had the voucher. He said it would be alright. At checkin I showed them the voucher & it was okay. They did suggest I come back next day to front desk and bring it by for them to see, but ya know, I didn't remember to do that so all in all they never did see it.
