I'm sure this has been answered before somehwere, but I am hoping someone can help me figure something out.

If I buy a 7 day MYW Park hopper, no expiration from a ticket broker for $341 and I use 6 of the days this trip - first day used being 5/16/07. I have one day remaining that never expires. What would my options be regarding upgrading to an AP w/ the DVC discount if I went to WdW on May 9, 2008??

Would they:

1) Apply the difference between the 6 day and 7 day MYW (approx.$35) to the Ap and have the first day of the AP be 5/9/08?
2) Apply the whole $341 to the AP and have the first day of the AP be 5/16/07??

Or:
Would I have to upgrade to a differnt (more days) MYW ticket? Would that just be the incremental cost from 7 days to 10 days?? ($107) Would I have the option of adding Water Parks & More for the $40ish it would have cost if I added it originally (at whatever the current cost is, of course.)

I hope my question is clear and someone with experience with this can help me figure it out!

Thanks!!

If you want to upgrade, you need to do it within 14 days of the first use of the MYQ ticket.

Disney no longer allows you to apply the remaining value of a partially used ticket to the purchase of another ticket. This used to be known as a "dollar credit".

So to answer your question, on May 8, 2008 you would have one more day on the original ticket to use for park admission. Can't turn it in for credit and can't upgrade it.

But that's in yor best interest anyway - MYW tickets are very heavily front-end loaded. If your math is correct, the remaining dollar value of that one remaining day would only be $35. Can't buy a 1 day ticket for that amount!

Thanks so much for your response Carol. Since the MYW tickets, we have only had APs, so I had no idea about the new 14 day rule (you used to be able to upgrade at any time, right???)

In that case, I think we'll just roll the dice and buy the APs for this trip - that way we can get DDP as well - which may only save us minimally on meals this trip since we only have 2 sit downs planned - but the savings + the free valet parking (which we always end up paying for), will pay for at least 1/2 of it! I really like the flexibility of being able to pop in and out of the parks - but I thought maybe we would NEED so many park days and I can play it by ear for next year - but that doesn't seem like it is going to work.

I guess with the new rules and the DVC discount, it just doesn't seem to make sense NOT to buy the AP unless you KNOW you aren't going to use the days!
