Ok, we are in the process of selling our BCV points (just passed ROFR yesterday). Our broker tells us it probably won't close for several more weeks due to DVC being bogged down with maintenance bills. In the meantime, I'd really like to book our April trip using our smaller amount of OKW points on the same contract. To complicate matters, we are short points on the OKW contract, so I'll be looking to have some points transferred in.

(If you are still with me after all that.....my question is this): If I get points transferred in and make the April reservation, will that reservation get messed up in any way when the "for sale" contract goes through closing? Anyone have any ideas?

TIA for any advice!
Sammy

Tom from TTS (even if GASP you didn't sell through him) will know for sure, hopefully he will chime in.

It is my understanding that, this is the reason you will often see listings that say, "Can't close until April". The prior owners have an existing reservation they wish to keep.

It is not clear to me if open ressies are cancelled by MS during a recording of a new owner (I doubt, but really don't know), or that the prior owner's are uncomfortable becoming renters from the new owners who could cancel at any time (More likely I think!)

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Your BCV and OKW points are not on the same contract. Points purchased at different times at the same resort or at the same time at different resorts are on separate contracts.

I would check with your broker for a difinitive answer. I don't see why reservations made using contracts not involved in the sale would have any effect on those you are selling.

Lew is correct. The contracts are separate and should not hinder what you do with your OKW. Make sure when you transfer in and/or make reservations that you mention the contract # for OKW, not the one for BCV. Request MS fax you a verification of the transaction. If a mistake has been made, you can catch it early. Otherwise, you could be in for a nightmare if that SOLD contract has been touched in any way.

Best wishes,

Thanks everyone. I just don't want to mess up that April vacation...as you can see from my sig, I'm taking my parents on their very first WDW vacation and I'm very excited!
