I'm fairly new to scrapping and so far I've only done two albums - one for a family reunion & one for DS#1's 2002 Grad (DS#2's 2003 Grad album is still sitting here waiting for me to get to it...but I'm anxious to get this WDW trip done first...you understand ;)). I bought a 2003 12x12 scrapbook album while I was in WDW and took over 1400 digital pics and about 75 film pics.

Last night I decided to start planning my pages (basically trying to decide which pics I would like to use on which page...not the actual design of the pages...not sure if that's the best way to begin, but that's what I did...feel free to give me advice on planning as well :)). I chose only 'the best" ones, and so far, at the end of Day 3 of our 9 day trip, I'm up to 55 pages (27 double sided). Looking ahead to the remaining pics it looks like I would probably need to have double that in my album to include all my favourite pics.

So what I'm wondering is this: When you scrap your WDW trips, do you use more than 1 album or do you just scrap the highlight pics of your trip? The other 3 albums I bought were top-loading (Pioneer EZ Load) and the family reunion album has 48 pages in it (24 double-sided)...I can't imagine that it could hold double that amount. The WDW scrapping album is a binder-type and I don't think it could even hold that many pages (it came with 15 page protectors, 20 pages  & 15 color sheets...I have no idea if/where I can even order refills for this style of album).

Do you get prints of all your digital pics & put the ones you don't scrap in a separate album or just leave them on your hard drive and/or a CD? Or do you scrap them all...in either 1 album or several?

I hope this isn't too confusing (my apologies). I appreciate any/all advice. TIA

edited to add: sorry...I just saw the other thread about the number of pages (don't know how I missed reading it) but I can't delete this one...so I guess I'd still appreciate your comments. :)

One tip that works for me is the fact that since both my kids make albums, I give some of our trip pictures to them to use. I can't stand leaving photos out because they all are so adorable, and this solution works out pretty well. I usually make full albums per trip, and on one trip to WDW had to use 2 albums. I think it is worth it. Figure out what you spent on the trip, and then think about the cost of your album and supplies. Pretty small in comparison? If we are going to spend the money to have a magical trip, then I am going to invest in preserving those memories! Hope this helps!

We've gone to WDW so many times, that I just do some highlights pages. Usually, I'll end up with about a page per day. Sometimes I theme them that way, other times, by park. I am getting ready to make my DD a special album of pictures of her with the characters over the years, so those will be arranged that way. I think it depends on your scrapping philosophy. My DF and I have agreed that you either make photo albums with journaling & stickers & such or you make scrapbooks that have more defined, decorative layouts. She's of the former philosphy, I of the latter! No matter what, it's up to you to figure out if you'll enjoy making such large books and whether you'll enjoy looking at them later. It's a no-lose situation, really!

mcnuss,
You are very right when stating that scrapbooking is personal and the choice is up to each individual. My friend and I who scrap together are NOTHING alike, and you can see it in our albums. Our styles are completely different, and I am sure my way would drive her crazy ust as her way would give me nightmares. However, there is no right or wrong. As long as we are getting those memories into our albums, that is most important!!

Concerning the number of pages, I am probably in the minority because even though we have gone to Disney (land, world, and cruise combined) over 30 times, I have to put all our photos in our albums. No matter how many times we have been photographed with Mickey, we are at different stages in our lives and I can't imagine leaving any photos out. I primarily make albums for our children to have when they are older, and don't think they will be bored looking at 100's of pictures of Disney when they are showing their children someday. If anything, they will remember just how crazy their mother was for the mouse!

Whatever you choose, I am sure your albums will be beautiful! Have a fun time putting them together!!

DeeAnn - do you have any of your DCL layouts posted anywhere? I am just starting my album (from last T-giving, don't even ask me how far behind I am!!) and could use some inspiration.

I believe you should use as many pics as you want. We've been to WDW 7 times in the last 4 years. Each trip gets it's own album and 2 trips have taken 2 albums. I don't care in the least. WDW is my favorite place and favorite to scrap so I just snap away. Have fun!

Hey Allison!
Thanks for asking. I will go through my favorite albums, and scan some for you. I know how you feel about being far behind! I think that is what happens though when you love taking pictures as we do!!! :D
Have a great day, and I will email you when I get it done.
Oh....thanks for that great recipe! You and I seem to have a lot in common!!

I started scrap booking the WDW trips by days, but since we park hop and napped and pooled inbetween, that got to be too nuts.. So I arrange the trip by parks, as well as a section for the new and different from each - first time on a ride, first time at a certain restuarant. I've done pages with each charter picture on a seperate page, like a seperate page or two for Tiger, and others where the characters were grouped by "theme" i.e. all Pooh charcters.

I've done an Epcot trip where I did a 2 page spread for each country, with pictures of the buoldings, etc.

:wave2:

I am also doing my trips by park. I think I am going to do a separate book for characters. I am scrapping most of my photos at this time. That may change someday, but right now this is right for me.

We are planning our first trip with our son and yes, I am already planning the album. I plan on doing and "autograph" album or book with the autograph and the picture of my son with the characters and then I will do an album just on the trip. We are only going for 4 days so I am hoping to fit all in one album!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've decided to scrap all of my favourite pictures so figure it will probably take about three albums ...so far I have 2 pages done. ;)
