Question re: room discount offers

I'm sure this has been answered a ton before, so pardon my ignorance on the subject:

If I book a room and in the future, a discount is offered for that resort making the price cheaper than my original reservation, do I cancel and rebook at the cheaper price, or just call and Disney will honor the discounted price?

You just have to call them and they happily apply the discount as long as there is availability for your room type. They don't have to change your reservation at all.

The exception would be if you are going from a room only to a package, then you would have to cancel the first to book the second. But that happens whether any time someone switches to a package.
